The put the wiper motor up under the dash. Probably not a big deal on a non-a/c car. However on an a/c car its really hidden.

This pic you can see I have it loose. However there are two (2) wiring connections here (circled) that you need to disconect. With the dash out of the way & the wiper motor unbolted it was no problem.

This vacumn hose works its way along the firewall & over the box. It was clearly visable with everything out of the way.

Ok this is a time saver tip. I thought I had the box loose & ready to come out. I gently tugged on it & it moved out quite a bit. In fact the left side was out. Something was still holding the upper right side. Got my light out & was looking all around & spotted this long rod. It runs down throught the box & has a small bolt that retains it. The top of the rod loops over like a hook over the inner body. All you need to do it loose the lower retaining bolt (dont remove it)& lift up on the box so the rod will unhook & out it will come.

The rod runs all the way to the bottom of the box. As seen here.

Pull the hoses through the firewall as you remove the box. This car has 3. Its easy. Just be sure to check them on the other side before to make sure they ar not tangled.

Here is a dealer emblem that was on the car. I remember seeing something indicating the car came from New Jersey. There was some stuff from California also in the car. As well as some military dog tags. Anyone know of this dealer. It would be nice if they where still around & could share any information they have about the car. I also think it would be neat to install a new emblem from this dealer if they where in fact the original selling dealer.

Got a chance to work on the Barracuda some this weekend. No major work just still dismantaling. Was able to get both rear windows & regulators out. Some trim off too. There is one iece that fits up under the roof where the door glass joins. It was dry rotted & kinda hard on spots & brittle in others. I removed both sides of it. There are screws under the rubber weatherstrip for those taking notes. You have to pull the old weatherstrip off to access the screws.

The very first screw at the front is visable through a seam or layer in the weatherstrip. The rest are hidden behind it.

Once the weatherstip is out of the way you can easily access the retaining screws. I assume the weatherstrip is all you buy when you replace it. Just sticks back on to the chrome strip. It also has a thin piece of foam between it & the cars roof. It too needs to be replaced. I have been checking on parts as I remove stuff to make sure is avaliable. Did not check on this so I hope someone sells a good replacement.

Have been a little busy working on a few other things. Yet I have done a little work on the 66. I removed all the wiring. Only thing still attached to the car is the rear end, front suspenson & steering column. Going to leave it that way for now so it will remain mobile. It has been raining a lot here for several months & has finaly stopped so I was able to get parts car #2 jacked up so I could remove the front clip eaiser. Ground was still wet. I am putting a 65 nose on her as I like the styling better. It was in worse shape than I thought. Both have rust holes behind the headlights. I can probably fix that. 1 has the lower section completely rotted. Can fix that if I can find a patch panel. 1 has a nice dent that may be tough to fix. The front valence panel was bent up badly, but I could see that without removing it so thats ok. I have leads on some good fenders. 1 local & one a hundred miles away. May try to fix these. Not sure what to do yet. I need to get wrorking on my bracket car. The season is approching & I had some things I wanted to do to it. So it may be a while before much is done to the 66. Anyway here are some pic's of the ratty fenders.

Well finaly got a chance to work on the Barracuda a bit. Its been a few months. Not that I have been goofing off. Been hard at work on other things & the Barracuda kinda got in the back of the line. So I decided I would attack some of the rust areas. This spot is on the lower left (drivers) quarter just in front of the wheel. It has rust through. I sanded it down with a paint stripper wheel to the bare metal so I could see where I needed to cut out. Also after removing the paint the body has quite a lot of dimples in the area just above the rust through. Looks like someone tap a hammer all around.

Here I have it all sanded down & the bad metal cut out. There was a lot of dirt & scale in side that I was able to use a vacumn & a coat hanger bent to form a scraper to help loosen it. Looked like I got it all. Took a pick of that before & after, but those pic's apparently didn't come out. I then sprayed a rust inhibitor/converter (Permatex product) to protected it. Now my thinking is to buy a panel flanger to form a flange that the patch can fit into. My welding is poor still although I have been practcing & getting better. I'm thinking about using a metal bonding adhesive also. I see there are 2 types of flangers. A simple pliers type similar to vise grips & a pneumatic type. Can anyone share some opinions on these.

Get the air one,it will save you a lot of wrist cramps. and drill small holes in your flange fot spot welding in your metal. you don't have to be good, just weld the holes shut, grind flat and you are good
