Will probably start to remove the dash & hvac mode box tomorrow. May be a while before I can make any real progress on the car after this weekend. We had a nasty storm blow up the east coast as many of you know. I have some minor damage to the house & the shop. Need to work on that. Then plus the holidays comming. Also wanted to build some shelves for the shop. I running out of places to put stuff. Thats why I titled this thread as a slow resto-mod.

Got a chance to work on the Barracuda this weekend. Got the windsheild out & the dash assembly. The windsheild was not so bad. The dash took ver an hour & I tried to take it out with all the wires still attached the the gauges & switches. Have been watching several other post on this board & others & have seen a few guys do this. Look like the way to go. Well on this car there must be a better way. I thought I had everything loose & would start to pull the dash up & out only to find 1 more wire connected way up under in a hard to get at place. This car has A/C so it pretty compact under there. Evern the wiper motor was up in there hidden. So early A body guys feel free to clue me in on things I should have done differently. And how is the best procedure to reinstalling it all.

These where even worse. I had unpluged the harness at the bulkhead thinking I coud work the wires up & out with the dash...ah, but these came off the harness & pluged in tight against the fire wall area. Also will cause problems on the re-install.

Next will be the HVAC box then the e-brake, wiper motor & linkage. Going to leave the steering column in for now in case I need to move the car around. It too will get rebuilt & painted.

It's coming along nicely. I took the dash out of the Challenger but have never taken the one out in my 65 Barracuda. But I will need to when I get to it so I'm taking some notes.

Keep up the great work and keep the pics coming!

Joe

Thanks Joe, I'll photograph & post as I go. Its actually been fun & rewarding. I used to work in a junkyard stripping down cars so I'm kinda good at taking em apart. Its putting them back together that I lack experience at.

Cool Project! I have a '66 that I've turned into a drag car. I may have something small that you may need? I'm in NC as well..bout 3hrs from Raleigh.

Thats cool. Love to see a pic of it. Thats a nice track you guys have in Wilksboro. Stopped by to take a look a few years back while comming home from a vacation in the mountains. I have 2 parts cars, but I'm sure there will be something I will need.

Yep thats a lot of glass. May need some of that weight, especially on the rear.

Got a little done on the car today. My buddy came over to supervise. Got the HVAC out finaly. Shifter, wiper motor & related linkage/pivots. All in about 2 to 2 1/2 hours for those taking notes. Some of the stuff was already loose. I took some notes as well to help reinstalation & anyone else who may work on one of these cars.
