what is the reason some guys use the chevy profile on their crank journels?? more rod availability?

The reason a Chevy size rod journal is used on big block strokers is that it frees up a little room. And rods and bearings may be a little cheaper.

The chebby rod journal dia is much smaller than the b/rb so the Mopar journal can be offset ground for more stroke IE from 3.375" to 3.900" using a chebby rod bearing on the big end of a rod w chebby dimentions. EDIT I meant 3.750" for the (RB) stroke

Also, smaller parts are lighter parts. A good thing when dealing with parts that change directions VERY rapidly.

yup, stroker guys use them for clearance, and the performance of them is that they are lighter.

that's why 440source offers a 440 length rod built with chevy ends--smaller journals for more crank throw clearance, and smaller pins for lighter rotating mass.
