Does anyone have experience or know if putting a 528" crate HEMI in an early B body i.e. Plymouth Belvedeer clears the hood without altering?

Hood clearance is probably the least of your worries. How about the work involved to invert the shock tower?

Gonna depend on the intake used somewhat. Short Mp dual plane maybe. We did this one in a 65 with the Barton Intake & a non-drop aircleaner & it sticks through the hood about 1 1/2".

The shock tower was trimmed just where it bulges for the shock & a flat plate put in, clears fine even with the Indy Heads/VC's.

If you use a stock Mopar V/8 K Member and Schumacher Engine Conversion Mounts, you do not have to invert or cut the Passenger side shock tower to get the engine in the car. With this stated combination, you may have to disconnect the top stud on the Passenger side shock to remove the Passenger side valve cover. Also if you use the Schumacher Engine Mounts, you must also use either the 2 1/8" or 2 1/4" TTI Headers.

Regarding hood clearance, like Butch just stated, it depends on the intake manifold used. If you want to use the NEW STYLE 1" taller Mopar Performance Cross Ram Intake Part Number p5007534, the 1" aluminum adapter plates ( spacers under the carburetors ) and the Holley 4235 and 4236 carburetors and some type of air cleaners like I did, FORGET IT... At the very minimum, you will have to cut two 10" holes in your stock hood, you will have to remove some of the Center and Passenger side under hood bracing and you will need to install either the Super Stock scoop or some other type of scoop. Ask me how I know this ... I just did this whole project on my 1965 Belvedere I and I am still fighting to find two ( 2 ) 9" x 2" air cleaners that will fit under the Super Stock scoop with the hood closed. You can also use the two ( 2 ) Air Horn / Velocity Stacks in place of the two ( 2 ) small air cleaners if you have an extra $ 400.00 to $ 600.00 burning a hole in your pocket.

Bottom Line... there is a lot of work in stuffing a Hemi in a 1964 / 65 "B" Body. Obviously, it can be done, but it is NOT an easy conversion.

Good Luck

Well, what if I would be running a Aluminum duel plane M1 4 bbl intake manifold! I should be okay, it should be stock then, right?

Thanks

It really isn't all that much work, it is, but in the same aspect its not. Quicksilver on here has done that mod many times.

This is my friend Dennis Chapman's 65, sits on Schumacher mounts and TTI headers, very good overall fit, fairly easy to work on. He could probably gain a little more by trimming unused threads on top of shock. At any rate, no need to invert tower. The crossram definitely doesn't fit under the stock hood,LOL

Here you go Tim. I thought that you might like these. Is altering the stock shock tower neecessary to install a HEMI engine into the 64-65 B body cars- No, but it sure does make life a whole lot easier! Every one of these I have seen has been incredibly tight on the valve cover. If your going to go to the trouble of doing this conversion why not make it so you can do your maintenance on that beast simple and less time consuming. Here's just a sample of what can be done. Enjoy. JC.

The inverted shock tower looks fantastic, very nice work. Like the others said, it's not absolutely necessary, but if you're running a solid cam and will be adjusting valve lash periodically, the stock tower is a pain. Dropping the shock down on a stock tower makes it a little easier to remove the valve cover, but it's still a pain. Quicksilver, the inner fender looks much better too.

Quicksilver -or- anyone,
Are you aware if the oil pan on the 528 crate hemi will clear the k member on an early "b" without modification? If not, is there a stock looking pan that will clear?

I'm sorry, but I have to start up this post again,

I know Schumacher industries makes reference to 62-65 B/RB stock pans that fit. Has anyone used the stock pan on one of these big Hemi's?

Also... If I decide to go with the pan as described here:

"OILPANS: There are a few 4 quart pans that fit, i.e. the “971” pan as well as the original ‘62-65 B-Body B/RB pan. The 6 qt. oil pan that comes standard on the crate Hemi will not work in this swap. If you want an extra capacity pan we recommend the following:
Milodon 7 qt. low profile #30930 with 1/2” pick up # 18335
Mopar Performance 8 qt. # P5007816 with 1/2” pick up #P5007818
Both pans require a notch in the k-member lip — see photo to right. For the Milodon pan, measure from the idler arm bracket inward — make a mark at 2 3/4” and 5 3/4.“ Grind out a notch approximately 5/8” deep as shown. For the Mopar Performance pan, make your marks at 4” and 7” from the idler arm bracket and grind notch approximately 1/2” deep."

Has anyone modified one of the pans as described above to work without touching the K member?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with notching the K member. Nothing.
