i got this mirror from a guy who worked in the newark delaware assembly plant from the early 1960s up til about 2000

i bought some parts from him and included in the parts was a mirror.
at first glance the mirror looked to be the 67-75 most A + B body standard non remote mirror, but upon closer inspection it has a tapered screwhole at the mirror head base, therefor eliminating the use for a stud under the mirror, which every other mirror i have seen this style had, + i have had many of them

I would have to look to be sure however that looks a lot like the mirror on my 64 sport fury. I remember being P.O. about how difficult it was to get at that screw. I would look before posting however the car is in storage 2.5 hours away.

I seem to remember hearing about (or seeing) an over-the-counter right side mirror that could be mounted without removing the door panel. Perhaps that is it.

ive taken mirrors off of 64 plymouths before and the mirror on those had a stud sticking down, not a 2nd screwhole

also, this was "removed" from an assembly plant, not a parts depot so i dont believe it would have been an addon mirror

i believe c-body cars were made at this plant so maybe its for a c-body that im not very familiar with ???

thanks for the input
tony

Could it have destined for over the counter, but then mispackaged with production line parts. Then because it was wrong/RMA/discrepant parts, it found it's way out of the plant. Just a theroy...

good idea, but

assy line parts werent individually packaged, they were in master packs,
ie: a group of 36 in 1 box

parts could be wrapped for protestion, but not individually boxed as they needed to be easily accesable for assy line workers to grab + install on the car
