This will work great for a solid color, I've touched up rock chips, etc.,for years this way. Clean it, glaze fill it, paint dab, then clear, then let set a couple of days. On a solid color, after color sanding & polishing, you can make it disappear. If it's a metallic, you really can't get away with this method. You can't dab a metallic color, the flake won't lay right, usually ends up darker. Then you repair chip, spray a blend over the repair & generally clear coat the whole panel.
