I weighted my Charger roller today. This is car without motor and tranny and plastic front end.
Car still have metal doors but cutted inside, have lexan windows on doors, all other glasses are original.
Interior - there is 6 point rollgage and plastic seat and aluminium dashboard.
Trunk - RCI plastic fuel cell and Aerospace 350 fuel system kit
Front end - original K-frame and orignal subframe. Manual steering rack and pinion
Car still have original rear chrome bumper and bumper brackets and original heavy brakes...

So car weight without me was 1820 lbs
Front : 585 lbs
Rear : 1235 lbs

What you think is it good weight or not? What else can I change/cut to get it lighter? Ofcorse all windows to lexan and maybe fiberglass doors. I cant replace front end (subframe and K-member) because of class rules where this car is going to race.
Also what you expect total wieght. Motor is R5/P7 and tranny is coming TF727

Is there any change to get this big car total weight under 2800 lbs ?

Thanks
Georg

get rid of everything that isn't necessary and/or functional. any little brackets, tabs, wiring at the very least lighten up the bumper brackets. if there's four of them do away with two, use one each side, fiberglass bumper. lexan in all windows, cut out window regulators, scrape out any sound deadening material. remember it's easier to find 100 places to take out 1 pound than finding 1 place to take out 100 pounds. first race car we had was a 1970 340/727/dana challenger and we got it down to 2680 without driver. this was lexan all round, fiberglass fenders, trunk deck and bumpers but steel doors and 10 point cage. what about fiberglass trunk deck?

Look at every bolt.... if the bolt sticks out past
the nut... cut it shorter.... brackets... every bracket
on the car was made for endurance.... they dont need
to be that thick.... make them 50% thinner.... if you
dont need the bracket, cut it off.... torsion bars,
if you dont need them for class, go with coil overs.
Frame rails.... drill holes in them.... K-member...
lighten it up..... there are all sorts of area's that
you can take weight out of.... look at EVERYTHING
