Can anyone provide the specs on the shifter mount measurement from the back of the block, and also the same specs on the transmissiom mount measurement from the back of the block? My vehicle is currently a 383/727, and I need to be sure I can relocate my transmission crossmember sucessfully, and at the same time, determine which 833 unit I would need to purchase to be sure the shifter is right where I need it to be.
Thanks!

What is your vehicle? C-body? Truck/Van?

All a-body and all 1970-later B/E/van/truck have the mount in the same location as a 727. The shifter location will vary depending on which trans you get and, in the case of the 1970-later B/E/van/truck which shifter location you use.

It's a late 50's Dodge Shortbed Stepside. The 383/727 setup was installed by a previous owner, replacing the 6/3-speed.

I didn't think that the mount would be that much of an issue, but I think the shifter location would be a problem. I think the A-body will put it in a good spot, and either mount on the B and E-body would be either too far forward or too far back. That is why I was hoping for some accurate measurements before I buy.

I've seen a diagram somewhere, but I can't locate it. Seems to me that maybe it was in a Hurst catalog or .................

Front face of bellhousing/rear face of block to approximate center of three-point shifter mount on trans:

A/F body A-833: 27"

B/E/Truck/Van A-833: 21.25" (front mount), 31.75" (rear mount)

HTH
