If driving air pump, alt., and fuel pump, would you use a aluminum or steel drive mandrel. Iam looking for a 1 inch shaft drive mandrel. Thanks for the reply's. Brian.

I made mine out of a piece of billet aluminum I couldnt find what I wanted so I made my own. I Probably just didnt know where to look.

the papers with my ati balancer said they had mandrels also.

Just to add to his question, since I don't know. What are pros and cons of 1" vs larger dia? I have seen both.

Jim, to me its just a matter of how long it will be,
some guys have 6" of junk out on the front pulling in
al sorts of directions and in that case I would go with
the larger diameter. I have just 2 things on my mandrel,
alt pulley then on the outer is my dry sump pump
(I have the oil belt on the outer so I can pull it
easy to prime the system)

The reason i asked about 1 inch is it seams there are alot more options as for as tooth count with the 1 inch mandrels. On my fuel pump i want the option of changing fuel supply rate with the gears. A friend who works at a robotics shop, came by last evening and says he can make me the mandrel. Would yall do aluminum or steel? Thanks again for the reply's.Brian.
