lobe separation? intake carb and headers?

Tire frying mid 11's or a true shot at 10.6 or better depending on weather and altitude??
should be a kind of car!

I would go 4.375 bore/4.500 stroke for a reliable 540"

not that im arguing with you bob but I always thought the bigger arm would hurt longevity!

I dont wanna have to run the 572" setup and the indy 572-13 heads and a giant roller..... just not my thing.....

Traction problems will haunt you. Motor should run really strong.

Sounds like a very solid build to me. You can reduce bob weight with the 4.25 x 2.2 chev big end crank journal, but if you already have the 4.15 stroke crank it wouldn't be worth switching. Should make gobs of torque peaking below 5000 for sure. My WAG is 725 hp on pump gas, enough to put you solidly in the nines with some bite. I really like the aluminum block for a streeter, we fight to get all the weight we can off the front and you are starting with a motor lighter than a small block. Still, anything you can do to mount the motor as far back as you can will help. You might only get an inch or so, but it is worth the effort.

I like it. I might would take Greg's advice and make it a 540" w/ a 4.25" stroke and 4.5" bore. The cam is a little on the small side, but it'll be a good street motor and make gobs of power. CHIP

fast enough to run you over and kill you if your not careful. good choice of parts on the motor I think. it will be plenty fast if your car can handle the power.

Another vote for the 4.5 bore x 4.250 stroke here.
Sounds good though

If you already have the crankshaft you can have it offset ground down to the BB Chevy rod size and make the stroke 4.25 or even 4.300 like the one in my 518 low deck is I like the cam you chose, it sounds like the one in my 518 also My cam makes peak HP(with the six pak) at 5800 RPM and peak torque at 4500 RPM, it is a torque monster

Congrats and that is the way to go The only thing I would add is if you want to go nitrous later, contact Monte now and build the motor for that Mid 8's with what you have.Good luck.

440-1's work just fine on a 572. (same bore????)
just a bit bigger roller?? or not even change cam when you get tired?? for the same money why not have the extra 44 inches now and not be pining for them later. Then when you want more it's valve springs and a bigger cam to unlock a tone of unused potential

Well I pulled the trigger and got a World aluminum short block and didnt wanna go too many cubes cause its 90% street car... after reading 8000+ of you guys arguments here is the route Im going

528" World Aluminum Block
4.500 bore/4.150 stroke
260/266 @ 50 Solid Roller
Full Port Indy -1's (325 port volume)
93 Pump Gas
11 to 1
ET Street Radials 315/60/15
3400lb ??? race weight 71 Dart
Caltracs
Dana 60 4.10's
Milodon Gear Driven
2 - 2 1/8th New Proparts/Mazzolinis
727
Custom Dominator
All Motor for now

I think you will run low 10s w/that combo. Be a good combo for twin turbos some day..

I went 10.6 only time out with a 3850lb challenger with less head and 499 cubes.... I should come in at 400+ pounds lighter with more head and bigger cam and 30 more cubes.... The cam in the challenger was a 248/254 @ 50 roller..... I am shooting for 9's in 100% street trim! the way she sits is the way I want her to run at the track
