I followed the advice here on setting them around .016. The car seemed to be down on power at the nationals. I have only had it out of the garage twice this year since I was working 7 days a week. While at the nationals the car as I said felt down on power. I changed the plugs in it and man was it FAT. I put a timing light on it and some how it had lost 15 degrees of timing. I set it back to 36 total and changed the plugs and finished out the weekend. So today I finally run the valves. They had loosened up about .010 to .013 on every valve. The plugs had one trip to the track and back and they look FAT still. Would you change the jets or wait till I drive it since I tightened up the valve lash to .016? They were around .030 and I understand that I lost some lift on the cam which inturn affected the vacuum. What would you do

Do you know where its fat at... idle, mid or top end, just to change jets isnt the right way to go... yet. You need to check at what point its fat. Also WHY did your lash change

This is the first time the lash has been set since the motor was built. About 1800 miles on the motor. The cam card says to set them at .020 and .022, they were around .030.
I feel that it is ok at an idle, not fat. I think the problem is when I am cruising down the interstate. It has a mechanical carb on it and I think it is cracking the secondaries when I am at 3000 on the interstate. It is a Biggs 1070 with 76's in the front and 87's in the rear. The camshaft is a 502/518 282/282 with slighty worked mopar aluminum hemi heads. When I drive around town she seems fine, when I get on the interstate and arrive at my destination they rear bumper has a blue tint to it.

With the jet sizes it shows you are running a PV, try taping a vac gauge on the windshield and see what the vac is while your cruising.... your PV might be opening

so you would put a 3.5 valve in it?
Yep... if you were to do like I suggested with the vac gauge you could see how many inches of vac you are pulling during cruise and on tip in... squirters might be to larger also.... Talk to Jesse
