OK, how the heck does the stock Hurst shifter handle go into the shifter mechanism on a 68 Road Runner???? No way that thing is going in the shifter port. It looks like all that holds the handle to the shifter mechanism is two tabs that when the handle is pushed in, slip into grooves on the side of the handle mount. Is that it? My question is, how do you slip that handle into the shifter? Everything is brand new rebuilt from Jamie Passon. Since the handle is too big, you think the rechroming may have thickened the base so it won't fit into the slot? You'd think that this really shouldn't be the hardest part of the installation, but cripes. How about just a bolt or something??? HELP!

Cheers

The tab on the left holds the handle in.

If the rubber pads that surround the handle are new the handle will be harder to install, it just pushes in...that's all.

Sorry mods...frustration! Anyrate, so should I just grind the shifter handle base down some? Maybe the new chrome thickened up the handle base. No way that thing is pushing in. Thanks for the quick reply.

Cheers

Yup, that was it. I sanded down the base and it fit in prefectly. Onto the pedals...Thanks for the help.
