UPDATED/ PLEASE GO TO THE BOTTOM POST

Any ideas what to use??

I am completely changing my E body auto slapstick console to include a tac, which is now going to be fabricated into the console via some fiberglass and a metal frame. After the lighweight filler is applied and I sand it for paint, I need to achieve the stock texture or alter the stock texture.

anybody discovered anything. I may have to change the texture of the whole thing to match.

It's not so much a texture as a grain pattern. It's not really something you can spray on.

It's very very tedious, but I saw someone cut the pattern into a very small section of repaired console.

For a bigger area, you might try using something to make a mold of the original texture that you can press onto the still wet surface of your fabricated part.

You can use your console to make a "grain pattern die". Go to this link;

http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/1969-Dodge-TSB-Index.shtml

& read TSB No.D69-23-16 (it is in chapter 23 & is 13 pages long)

It is about vinyl top repair, but the process is related.

Maybe I will just spray over it and make another texture.

Thanks

Dave

Dave you might want to pick up a can of Rustoleums spray on bed liner, in a red/white spray can at AutoZone, about $4,....tough as nails, if you spray it with some distance, has a nice texture, just knock it down with sandpaper later, to slightly flatten the surface like whats on a stock E body console, or E body interior grain, then coat it with SEM's Landau Black to restore color....I just fabricated a radio delete plate, and happened apon the stuff experimenting with textured finishes,
