The Baders at Norwalk spend a ton of money. They are very fan oriented people.National trails should have been pulled as a national event years ago its a dump. There
I've heard good things about the Baders ..from what i've been told National trails IS a dump, thats why NHRA pulled the plug and races at Norwalk now,one of the reasons we don't attend the mopar nationals they run at the dump...
Doesn't NHRA own National Trails?, they have all of the money in the world and yet they do nothing to improve their tracks except for coming up with more marketing brainstorms like Indy's top eliminator club, oohh Please!
I don't attend national events anymore since they transformed themselves to the circus format, you don't need to pay big money to hear the carnival barkers there when you can turn on any cable news show and get similar BS for a lot less.
I love Nostaglia Super stock racing and any kind of heads up format, this summers Pinks event at Martin was filled to capacity and beyond. NHRA, should take notes.
I too was at Indy for the infamous Modified protest and it was all to obvious even back then how little respect they had for the racers opinions.
Joey
Yes, NHRA in fact does own National Trail's, and according to the new General manager of the track, they were slated to get money to actually finish what they started there and make other improvement's to the track and the facility but that was nixed when NHRA decided to put money into the other National event track's saftey problem's.

That promotion was brought on by Pontiac. In fact if you ask him he thought they were pulling the plug back then, that is why he did what he did. Like him or not, WJ is a straight shooter. That comparision is like Jr and Budwiser. How many millions did they make from that knowing they were not resigning. It does not matter what day of the week or time of day, I go past the shop, those guys are working. Yes, out spoken, but I would bet Jegs and Anderson were saying the same thing to G Light. I wonder if the track is the reason Alan Johnson did not make the show? I don't know, just speculating.

I like WJ for his work ethic, but as far as saying NHRA is hosing the fans, I have to ask. Did Warren give the fans all their money back for all the 'School's Out Tour' memorabilia when he "retired" a few years ago?
That certainly was a scam, wasn't it?

It wasn't a scam by any definition. WJ had started driving better at the tail end of that year, and the sponsor kicked in enough dough to fund two cars. He would be out this year if K&N hadn't stepped up in the 11th hour. I expect a real retirement next year.
How about the Mopar effort? Morgan is going Ford, Jones is going Pontiac, no word on V, that leaves Johnson and Gray. Maybe Panella?
It was a scam. If not, it should have been a "i'm not racing anymore because my sponsor thinks I am too old" gig instead of it appearing to be his choice of retirement.
V. has his own Hemi engine program that he's been running.

I see a lot of love for WJ in this thread but I know a local man where I grew up that had to go to GA to demand his engine from WJ after far longer than he should had to wait.
Good ole WJ had no trouble cashing the check and lying over the phone repeatedly.
The local man got an engine that day after much "discussion" in person.
I want my fair share

How many times have other drivers Retired?Look at Scelzi Bernstein and a few others. Then look at other sports.Farve retired then says I want to play again. Its a money game.Brings in more bucks that all.Funny no body sees a problem when Muldowne or Garlits retires then comes back to run Just a few races. That and its in their blood. They need the spotlight too.As far as AJ not qualifing he shoots himself in the foot more than any other driver out there. If that car was being driven by like Alderman or Geffreion I bet it would have won a lot more.Rocky

Did they all sell stuff on the notion that they won't be back in the sport again, and this would be your last chance?

Bernstein sure did.Rember his goinf away tour and then they had his special car for sale too as a collectable.Look at some of the major league pitchers. How many times did Clemens retire? They had his glove ball and other crap put in the HOF.Because it was the last one.I think he retired what 4 times. It draws the fans which makes more $$$$$.Rocky

Clemens never really retired until the final year he played, any time before that he was making up his mind or weather to retire or come back..

On that note: on Drag Race Central theres a letter from the Maple Grove managment apoligizing for the delays and problems this past weekend. Sure hope they straighten them out before I go there for the NED Bracket Finals in a month or so.
