I was looking on Legendary's site for carpet. This would be for a 71 E-body.

What is the difference between these two carpet types?

70/74 E BODY AUTOMATIC 80/20 LOOP -BLACK
CA70EA01

70/74 E BODY AUTOMATIC CUTPILE BLACK
CA70EA01P

80-20 loop would be correct for 71, I believe they started installing cut pile in 74 which would explain why its listed for 70-74. The cut pile is nice and thick and is what I put in my 76.

loop

if your car came with cut pile I would get it. loop sucks, snags on just about everything. But if you are restoring it and loop is correct

cut pile

Yea mine had loop from what I recall. I went back with loop about 10 years ago but it never was a good fit. It was from Year One. I figured I would try Legendary this time.

If you want the absolute best go to ECS. There was a long post a while ago about how perfect the ECS carpets are.

Allen Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first. Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

There is no better option for carpet than to use ECS.

I emailed ECS about the carpet and it's $379 shipped. They said it's not listed on their site.

One of my biggest gripes about carpet is it doesn't go high enough under the dash. Sitting in the seat you can see the bare floor board.

Does the ECS carpet go higher than the regular aftermarket replacement stuff?

Legendary does not make their own carpet. For years they were selling ACC carpet. I would order carpet from them with the rest of their interior parts and the carpet would be drop shipped from ACC. I would also order the ACC carpet mats at the same time.
Now on my last order they sent me Trim Parts Carpet.

I may be wrong here, but doesn't ECS sell carpet amade by ACC or some othger major supplier, the exception being ECS gets the carpet flat and ships it flat?

Does the ECS carpet go further up the floor board under the dash that Year One's? Can you still see some bare floorboard when sitting in the front seat?

I don't know who Year One's carpet supplier is.

I've only used ACC carpet and I have not had a short cut carpet from them in the last 10 years. All of them have extended well up under the heater box.

I'm pretty sure Dave at ECS said he is working with ACC.

Is the ACC carpet still fading after a year?
the last black one I had faded to a funky purple color in about 16 -18 months
