Yeah, I know there's an Innovate forum where people post all their gripes. I'm wondering if folks like me who would use an LM-2 unit on an "old school" setup like my Challenger have also experienced some of the problems I see posted on there.

I have been considering buying the LM-2. What kind of problems have you had? Has Innovate been any help to you in the way of customer service?

I just bought mine last weekend w/o having bothered to research the issues that some users have been having with them. There is an LM-2 forum that has a lot of posts complaining of various problems, but I haven't dug into all of them to see what might going on.

Everything I have heard and read the LM-2 is more aimed at the obd2 crowd of cars? with ciggarete lighter power cord etc.

One day I will have something cool here.

It was supposed to be an improved version of the LM-1, but it sounds like IM out-tricked themselves and released a product for which they've never quite gotten "right".

I was hoping to see more feedback on this, both here and on the IM forum, but didn't get any. Mine's still in the box and I haven't even opened a single sealed bag... I'm taking it back to the store where I purchased it a week ago and returning it today. The last thing I need is dealing w/ somebody else's glitchy product while I'm trying out new carb calibrations.

What kind of problem are people having with the lm1? I have been using one on my dyno for 5 years and never had a problem that I know of. Maybe I am missing something.

I have had my LM2 for a year now and the only problem I had was the rpm and fuel curves were very choppy. I talked to their tech and also saw this on the website. They have a free download to fix the problem and it works good. At the same time the fix makes it easier to see when it is recording. Very good when you have your gloves neck collar helmet, etc ready to pull into the burnout box.
I think it is a good tool for tuning your carb. Don

I use LM-2 in my bracket car. I made a power cord from the connector off of an old computer power supply. There's a post/thread about that in the Innovate forum. I switched the RPM from leading edge to falling edge and it's very smooth reading my MSD 6AL. The setting is in the LM2 menu. Be sure to stop the recording before you power down the system or you'll get no file, also, remember to push the record button when you want to record. I've missed a few runs by forgetting to push the button. One of the firmware updates includes a playback feature but it's hard to make much sense of compared to reading the files on a computer. I now take the laptop to the track with me along with the jump-box/power inverter to power the HP comupter with a defective battery charger.

The ability to record the AFR along with 4 channels of 5 volt data makes a great system. The ability to update the firmware with fixes and new features is a huge bonus. I haven't really used the OBD stuff because my stuff is old.

Brad,

Ive had my LM1 since last fall.

Yes, it has developed 2 known problems. First sometimes when you turn the battery on, it will go into record mode. Second, my RPM feature doesnt work.

I called Innovate, told them the problems and they didnt haggle with me a bit. Gave me a RMA number to return it, but so far I havent had the time to pull it out and send back.

Overall Im very happy with it. I think I'll be even happier when the RPM feature works.

So much for that plan. The shop where I bought it last week invoked their "No return on electrical parts" policy and wouldn't let me return it, even for store credit. Guess it's mine to find out if it's got issues or not, regardless.

I've used the LM-1 with zero issues for several years. It's a great product. I haven't tried the LM-2 yet, but from what I've read, it seems like most of the issues can be worked out. It's kinda like the Victor heads, if they don't fall out of the box onto the car, everybody cries about it

put that rascal on and remember it is a measureing tool, not a one size fixes all device Tune the motor until you like it on the street and at the track, the AFR may or may not read exactly the same on all wide bans Sensor location, gasket seal and other things can and do affect the end results If you do have problems call Innovate and give them a chance to help you resolve it there before sending it in My LM1 had a problem, they fixed it no charge and returned it overnight delivery for no charge, on thier own

I've been using my LM-2 for a few months now with good results. As mentioned above, it does start up occasionally in record mode. There is a firmware fix for that. I haven't loaded it into mine yet, because it's a pretty rare occurance. RPM seems to be around 200RPM higher than my tach, but I really only use it as a point of reference when reading logs. Keep in mind it's a delicate electronic instrument. Run good grounds to a common point for all the signals especially if you use any analog channels. Also, try to keep the input wiring away from any high current carrying wires. If you have to cross any high power stuff, try to cross it at 90deg. My

Bringing an OLD thread back from the dead. Still haven't had The MoPig running again since buying my LM-2 and am wondering if anyone can tell me if the multiple firmware updates (IIRC Innovate is up to #15 now) have addressed most of the issues people have had w/ the LM-2.

People can't check w/ Innovate's own Tech Forum anymore since it turned into such a about the LM-2 in particular that Innovate shut it down.

I also got so paranoid that my LM-2 was going to be a POS once I finally got to try it out that I picked up a used LM-1 from another Moparts member to have as a backup wideband system "just in case..."

My LM-2 was problem ridden from the day i got it. It had so many issues i can't even remember them all. Constant firmware fixes came out, some worked, some didn't. I bought mine during the time the company changed hands. Phone tech support was worthless at best IMO. I tried to get them to replace the unit after 6 months of not being able to get it working properly and was told it was out of warranty, even though all of the problems were reported during the warranty time frame. It now sits in its case high on a shelf as a reminder to never buy another IM product for as long as I live. Way too many glitches as far as I'm concerned. When i need a tool of any kind i don't expect to have to have to waste time to fix it before i can use it.
It seems to me they rushed this product to market and did little to no field testing prior to its release. I don't like being the guinea pig for their R&D.

I bought mine the middle of last year and I have had nothing but good results. All I log is AFR and RPM haven't tryed it on an obd car so I don't know about that but mine has been issue free. I do clean my o2 sensor everytime I run avgas since it is leaded and I calibrate once a week if I drive it much. It has never given the first signs of trouble...

Mine has been good, I hope to figure out how to hook it up to read RPM this winter(I haven't even looked at how lol).

I would also like to hook mine up to read fuel pressure. I need to by an electric gauge and I figure I can buy a sensor or whatever I need for the LM2 cheaper than the $200 for an electric fuel pressure guage but I haven't looked into it.

I did want to toss mine awhile back because I couldn't get it to record. Turns out the guy who drives the car never put the SD card back in it haha...if I ever find that guy.............
