if you need the clearance and you dont want a forward facing scoop...what would you use??

before cowl induction there was the reverse teardrop hood...Ford used those on the Thunderbolt Fairlanes for clearance..

others started using them too...so would it be called a Ford hood..

cowl hood's aren't just for chevy's anymore.

It is my understanding that some classes/tracks do not allow forward facing scoops.
It is the ONLY choice in those classes at those tracks.

You could take the top of an old Pro Stock style like mine and turn it around. That should make for some good conversation.

NMCA and many other racing sanctioning bodies do not allow forward facing hood scoops. That is why in the last decade you've seen an abundance of cowl hoods. People like what they see at the track and put them on their own cars. Personally I don't like them on some mopar body styles. But others I love'm. BTW, I still contend a 70 RR and GTX have cowl hoods. They just are not functioning.

Its the only way I could fit an air cleaner with a 2"carb spacer. And I think it looks good.

It's just a hood scoop, who cares what it originally came on. "Shakers" came on Cobra Jet Mustangs before Mopars and I don't see anyone calling those "Ford" scoops...... This will likely flame up all the purists. IMHO, I am not exactly enthralled with any of the factory Mopar offerings anyway. Most forward facing factory scoops are not high enough to be efficient at all, plus just because it is a Mopar scoop, does not mean a "six pack" scoop looks great on every mopar.

but foward facing

over 150 mph the cowl hood works

not a chevy thing , just like power glide trannis and 9 inch ford rears , it works on a race car
