My camera decided not to take pictures that day, and I generally only see the car once a season. The car is beautiful, and very well built.

Edit: here's a pic of the car from a few weekends ago at the CSCN.

It's some seven years ago when I converted in the '66 GT Dart. To my surprise, the cowl induction blocked the visibility way more than the six pack it replaced. It's wide, and long, and equal height everywhere, my seats were installed pretty low in the car, and I couldn't see a whole lot out of there. As far as the looks go, at first I thought they were cool because you saw so few of them. Now, that they are everywhere, I don't like the looks a lot. Even though I have one in our car. Maybe it's time to convert to the good ol' L88 scoop?

I did it JUST to piss off the Mopar purists.. Really, I originally put it on for the Pump Gas Drags.. No forward facing scoops.

They all look good to me! Some nice Mopars in this thread!

It's just your typical Mopar or No Car guys wanting to be heard!

the original design of the cowl hood scoop was to direct cool air by picking it up from deflecting it off the windshield

And it does function fairly well. There is a high pressure area at the base of the windshield.

And to those that posted they went slower, have you given any consideration that the difference in air (be it less or more with the cowl hood) affected your a/f ratio at certain speeds?

Just a though.....

Cowl hoods DO FLOW AIR into the engine.

I dont like the looks either.

but if you study the various configurations and placement you will see that many are too far from the glass to catch the air and let the scoop do it's job.

FINALLY - many cowl scoops are not set up correctly. I know mine isnt, I bought it like that, even though mine is an adaption of the original cowl type on the Daytonas its still not close enough to the windshield to function properly.

Also a cowl scoop is more consistent, and easier to see around.

Many scoops on many race cars do very little, they catch very little air and do nothing more than give hood clearance.

They say if you take a string from the front of your hood to your windshield, if your scoop isnt above it, its benefits are very slim.

I don't think it's a Chevy if it was made by MOPAR. Mine was made by Mopar for a Mopar so it can't be Chevy.

I thought that is what was wrong with my cowl. Too close to the windsheild. My carb starves for air after the 1000ft.

Most are too far away from the windshield, there is a formula out there somewhere.

But I heard it has to be pretty tight to the windshield to be of effective use....

I think if done correctly the cowl hood flows with the car no matter what make or model.. for example the Blue Super Bee with the black cowl...GOOD

The green Valiant with the 14" Cowl....BAD

why not seal the carb to an under the bumper scoop and use the cowl to let hot engine compartment air out.

thats what this guy did

cool air from the front of the grill into an airbox and sealed to the carb

the back of the hood scoop is open and not sealed or close to the windsheild
