So I took the old scamp out to see what it would run. Went to 75&80 Saturday night. My best pass was 13.82 @94 mph. Not to bad for a bone stock 360 magnum motor with an air gap intake and headers. I think my 4.30 rear is holding me back.

Or helping you out (???). My car typically runs 13.8's @ an even 100 mph, with a 2.09 60 ft.
What is your RPM at that trap speed?, and does the car run out of steam, or hit that max RPM way before the stripe? Also, what size tires do you run with those gears?

Your 60 ft. is pretty good, but your trap MPH is way down, for a 13.8 run. I suppose there are two ways to read it.... since MPH is normally a good indicator of Horsepower, it would appear you're ET'ing real effective for the power you have. However, if you just plain run out of gear at the top, then the low MPH could just be evidence that you need more gear (???), as I would think a 1.91 60 ft. typically would have you in the low 13's.

Gonna have to work on that reaction time, though... What happened, did you drop your sandwich???

mph is pretty low. You totally tached out well before the stripe? What size tires? Trap RPM?

60 foot is good? I'd think w/ that steap of gear it'd be better. Probably too much gear for that combo. I look forward to gettin' this thing up to 75/80 sooooon!

Gearing is the question, here, but until we know more about tire size and trap RPM, we're really just guessing. In general, yes!, for a 13.8 pass, 1.91 is a pretty quick 60ft.

My old 340 swinger w/ 3.55's used to get 1.99 and it ran 13.82. I thought it was weak because of the lack of stall and the 3.55's. Just wondering if he's turning them a few times before it bites.

Way too much gear - no matter what the tire size is. 3.90's would be more in the ball park. This might not change your ET's a hole bunch ( trading bottom end for more top end ), but MPH will definetely improve, and the motor will thank you.

Im running a 26" tall drag radial. I shift at 5500 and I finish about 5800. The car does not feel like it pulls much after about 1000 feet.

It's interesting how these things shake down. I ran my 360 A body at 75&80 on Friday night. My best pass was 13.75 @96.40 mph. My 60' time was 1.904. So it sounds like it was a good weekend for mild 360's to get off the line quick! Yours sounds like too much gear. Mine, I let the auto shift instead of winding it out, left some on the table.

My similar post is here

The car should be good with the 26 drag radials and 4.30s bit much but can be made to work. I ran 4.30s and 26inch tires on my 360 sat and I got to stripe right on power Try a set of taller tires and see what happens thats what I'm doing with the 4.56s I got now can't pass up a new rear end with a Detriot locker for free!

Ive got a set of QA1 drag shocks for the front that I need to install. They should in improve the 60 foot a little.
