Mine is installed right after the header collector and works great.
70 challenger convertible. 340/5 speed. blown, intercooled, efi, blah blah blah

MIne is right after the collector and seems to work fine as well.
1969 Ply Roadrunner, 383 4-speed on street tires.
3,830 lbs race weight.
Best 1/4: 13.1 @ 106.83
440 & overdrive 4 speed going in.

Widebands sensors will work in any part of the exhaust assuming there are no leaks. They do not need to be close to the engine like narrow band sensors. Sticking them up the tailpipe can produce false readings unless you use a special adapter that Innovate sells.
I'd just drill into the pipe and weld a bung on.
