Does anyone know the drum to drum width of a Volare 8.25 rear? It's from a '79 wagon if it matters.

Thanks,
ken

not shure if it matters but the track is 58.50" and the sp/pad to sp/pad is 44.46".

I looked there but was always told that the chart there isn't correct. I was hoping someone could verify.

Thanks,
Ken

I assume track is the same thing? If so, this sounds just a little wider than an A-body, right?

Thanks,
Ken

the a is smaller by almost 3 " (55.6) and pad to pad is 43" that equats to about little over 1 1/2 each side . you woul most likely get offset shackles or relocation kit and remount you pads anyway.

They'll fit under a Duster with stock 14" wheels, the track is about 3" wider so about 1 1/2" per side.

We didn't have any perches so we made em' out of 2X3 box tubing , used some old 8 3/4 shock plates & went to the parts house & got new U-bolts.

Had to get the car back on the road!

Thanks Mopasquid & Chrycofan. I found a Volare rear with 3.21 gears and a sure grip. Looks like it might be a cheap alternative to a B-body 8 3/4 for my daughter's 318 Duster. :-)

Chrycofan, what size tires is that on the back of your car?

Thanks again for all the help.

Ken

the 7 1/4" from my M was 61" drum to drum. I've heard the 8 1/4" are about 1/2" narrower. either way, they're about the same width as a '68-70 B body rear.

If I remember they're 215/70/14 on the original 14X5 rims.

Just remember you need 8 3/4 shock plates & bigger u-bolts since the 7 1/4 has smaller tubes than the 8 3/4. the Driveshaft needs to be shorter too for the 8 1/4, we used the old one from the Aspen & it fit fine in the Duster.

The pads above are fine.

Just jack it up & let the axle hang & take a pinion angle reading like that...don't move the car & lay the 8 1/4 in on the perches & re-set to that angle & you're good to go.
Center it side to side also.
