Hey guys - I had Jules restore a 3 speed wiper motor from my 72 Challenger. Got it back and looks great, but the linkage does not line up with the stud on back of the motor. The motor was in the trunk of the car when I got it, so I can't confirm how it was connected before.

The part # on the motor is 3431624 and the part number on the arm that slips over the stud is 3431635.

The motor is in park position and the arm is about an inch too far forward to slip over the stud in back of the motor. An ideas for me? Thanks

Being unfamiliar with the wiper set-up on a Challenger, I don't know if this will help:

I'd start by double checking that the motor is really in park by running it and then observing that the motor arm reverses when switched off. Then I would remove the wiper arms and see if I could then attach the arm by moving the linkage. What I'm trying to say is don't assume that the wipers (if installed) are clocked correctly.

The linkage arm that attaches to the motor arm... is there a plastic bushing at BOTH ends?

Seeing the wiper motor was in the "trunk",....did you ever fit it to car at one time?,.....or it was never mounted, and you assumed the wiper motor went with the car?,.....you may have 2 speed linkage in the cowl area? which is different from 3 speed linkage

The wiper motor is the correct part number but the crank is for a b-body.You'll need part number 3431518.Just guessing since it was in the trunk check the part numbers on the rest of the wiper linkage you may have b- body stuff there also.I might have the correct linkage if you don't

Thanks for your responses guys. Well, seems as if I made a rookie mistake. I was trying to do this with the wiper arms installed. I removed the wiper arms and voila, its a perfect match. Thanks again!

72 parts book says otherwise
