This may seem like a stupid question, But i`m working on a car that I did not assemble for a brake problem, and to be honest I don`t have alot of pre 71 experience with details.
Are the front calipers supposed to be on the front or rear of the spindle, This car is on the rear (like a 69) and can not be right the way it is set up (note bleeder location and hose routing)

My opinion is the knuckles are on the wrong side, unless there is a caliper with a different bleeder and hose inlet (non kelsy/hayes) that i`m not aware of.

Thanks
Rick

I am pretty sure the bleeder should always be at the top so I would mount it to the front. I am real sure mine are....or else you could have problems bleeding the brakes.

One thing i do see is that your brake hose seems to be stretched pretty tight and doesnt look right either.

Nope I Didn`t get it backwards....I didn`t assemble it, I`m just fixing the stuff that wasn`t right. what I was trying to find out was if there was a different caliper I wasn`t aware of on the possibility they put incorrect ones on it.

70 is the one year I haven`t messed with much so thought it better to ask then ASSuME.

Got it figured out anyhow.

Thanks guys
Rick

Yep they are swapped around never gonna get the air out of the upper chamber properly like this! And it is not that the knuckles are on the wrong side it is the calipers are either on the wrong side or you have two right or two left calipers.

Allen Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first. Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

I had the ones on my 65 mounted both ways.As long as the bleeders are up they will bleed.I have them mounted to front now.Its been 7 years since I swapped them and I have great brakes. If you have a sway bar they usually mount out the rear.Dosent really matter as long as the bleeders are up.Rocky
