This is my first real project car. I did have a 70 383 cuda that I sold at the nats back in 91 to build our house. I have owned chevys ever since then. My nieghbor bought this 64 out of California about 4 or 5 years ago.He lost intrest so I got it from him better than a year ago. I took it down to a bare roller and sent it to the body shop. I have never taken a car apart like this before so it is a little scary. This is some of the stuff I've restored while waiting to get the car back. It's a little out of order because all the pics of the car are to big to post, but i'm working on that and will post later. Thanks to all who have answered some of my stupid questions on here, There will be more.

This was the brake assembly that was in the car. The brakes were horrible on this car. I was told that this was a power brake assembly but i had manual brakes and that was the reason.

Thanks guys. I have gotten most of the way things are done from this web site. I am trying to do things right since its down this far. I just need to get the car back so I can start bolting things back on, shouldn't be to much longer. The car is getting buffed now.

I know why everyone wants California cars now. You can't find them this rust free in Ohio. Both front fenders were in perfect condition.

i see a big scratch down the side. looks like its from a cowboy belt buckle. you need to sharpen your detail skills too. LOL looks good bro, but it needs a HEMI.

Don't forget these. You'll need tail light bezels and lenses to equal that nice paint work.

Looks like it was/is a really solid car. Like the color too. Can't wait to see it when it's done.

I got them all back today and they came out great. I used Eric from E's auto interior air brushing out of Texas. He does all of Ssnake oyl's painting. He will work with you on getting sample colors to chose from. If you need his number PM me and i will get it to you.

Been laying on my back for a couple of weeks with hot tar falling in my face. I scraped all under coat off of the floor pan. Some of the original undercoat had already been scraped and I wanted to square it up. Not a fun job. I resprayed it with 3M undercoat.

Front hangers. I think I am going to move the springs down to the lower hole. I put tires on it and put it on the ground and its not as high up as I thought it would be. Hard to tell with no motor though. Im also going to have some pinion angle issues that I will have to deal with later.

I decided to use Dynamat on the floor. It's actually Jegs brand but it was eighty bucks cheaper than Dynamat.

Thanks for the kind words. I will say it's been fun and frustrating at the same time. Trying now to get the windows adjusted to where they roll up right. I had them rolling up perfect into the rubber seal until I put the door panels on that changed everything. Try again tonight

Lugnutz your killing me! I would like to be done but we have white death here right now. I run a grocery store ya know so it's been a nightmare for me at work. I can't even blame you this time cause it's been coming from the south. Keep your Noreaster's and Alberta clippers to yourself!

Got a little more work done. The trunk is basically buttoned up. Had to cut the hole for the spare tire holder and jack. The mat is the molded type but it needs some heat to flatten out from being rolled up in the box. Also got the weather strip glued on.

Also got the quarter trim and trunk trim put on. Had to modify clips for that trunk trim cause the needed to be bowed in the middle to make it fit right.

After repeated tries of masking off the side trim and painting the white down the middle I could not do it to suit myself. (Fisheyes and edges jagged from the tape) So I went to a buddy that does vinyl signs and had him cut them for me. We used matte white and they came out great. Nice strait edges. Should have thought of that a month ago, would have saved me alot of time.

Your '64 Fury project looks INCREDIBLE!
My first car in 1973 was my brother's '64 Fury 383 4-speed he purchased new at Melrose Chrysler/Plymouth in Oakland,CA. Your restoration is bringing back very fond memories!

Ok, basically I suck I did force myself to go to the garage and get a few things done this week. It's hard to find the time during the summer months. I actually did this at the dining room table. Put the little vinyl stickers on the front spears.

Got the new dipstick with the locking top. It must be the wrong one cause it hits the ear on the tranny to where it wont bolt to the bellhousing. Its a 1965 tranny so does it need a special one or can i grind on that ear? Not sure what that ear is for.

Retaped the under the dash wiring and installed the dash. Installed the gauges and dash pad also. Took me forever to decide on the gauges. The only thing bad about the sun tach is you have to buy a 60.00 msd tach adapter if you run the msd ignition, which I am.

Got the windlace on the drivers side installed and the inner sillplate which gave me fits to get in there. The passenger side windlace is giving me problems cause when installed the door wont shut. Gonna have to get someone to help with that.

Just started reading your build post,,looking great,,,FYI,,I just had to buy a tach adapter for my old Sun,,$80.00+. Don't let that wreck your build budget!! Keep up the good work. I'll keep watching.

Funny, I'm getting ready to do the exact same thing! Man, I'm glad you posted that! I'm running an MSD 6AL and wouldn've been ticked to have to spend an extra $60 on an adapter.

I almost pulled the trigger on that tach and some Summit gauges pretty close to what you have but they have white faces and I'm not crazy about the "Summit" logo. BTW, what brand are the gauges in the pod?

I was taking for granted, his was an older unit like mine. I was also under the impression, the NEW nostalgic looking Suns, ARE MSD compatabile(sp)??? Maybe I'm assuming too much! We all know what 'assume' does....anybody know for sure?? I had my older tach and wanted to use it for the 'period correct' look. After I hooked it up and it wouldn't work, I ordered the adapter. When I found out what it cost, I wasn't so sure I needed the look that bad. I had another tach that would have worked just fine as it had in the past.

That is the new sun tach but it does require the adapter. The other gauges are stewart warner that I got through Summit.

Hey Jeff, I'm actually north of Columbus between Mt. Vernon and Sunbury. Thanks guys for all the nice comments. I really need to start thinking about my motor next and who I'm going to have build it. Talked to a couple of different builders up in northern Ohio. Both seemed to be straitup honest guys. I just have to make up my mind who to go with

Hurry up...You can help me with my '64 Savoy and I'm just down the road from you.. Marysville. Why are you looking outside of central Ohio for an engine builder? There are number of good local machine shops.

Hey Fred i would be glad to help you on your 64. I know there are some good local machine shops but I just want a mopar guy to do my motor. I have talked with Jeff at Precision and Nick at Compuflow. I just need to pull the trigger so I can maybe make the Nats this year.

Tell me about your motor...426 or 440 max wedge? specs...
Are you going to assemble it yourself?

Col-Weld in Columbus does very good work and so does FOWLER's but they(Fowlers) charge out the waaazoo. Performance Research has mopar experience also.
Wasserbeck is just north of Deleware but he takes his time.

Well I doubt that I will make the Nats this year but I did push the car outside today. It had been sitting in the same spot for a year. Needed to do some spring cleaning. I still dont know about the motor yet but leaning towards a 500 inch stroker. I will have someone else build it cause I just dont have the knowledge.

The tranny cooler is from Setrab. They are located here in my hometown and are good friends. Most all cars in Nascar run thier coolers. Here it is mounted on car.
