I just installed a 3488805 switch in a 1970 B body. Had to narrow the base of the "hazard" button to fit in the narrower column slot. Took less that a minute with a sanding drum in a dremel.

Hi Joe. Yes, if you want your switch to look correct for 70, you'll need to drill out the rivets on your new switch and put a correct 70 black flasher button in it. OR spend high dollar hunting for a correct 70 switch.

If you're not concerned about correctness on this specific part, you could swap on a 71-74 steering column housing to match your switch, OR do some grinding on the new switch to make it fit your 70 column.

Thanks for the replies. My 70 Turnsignal switch was good but since I was replacing all the wiring on the car I was going to replace it also. I hate to drill out the rivets on a switch that is still good. I also kind of hate to cut on the original housing to make the new one fit. Wiring on the old one looks good too. I may just clean this one up and use it until it dies and then swap out the hazard buttons later as you guys have suggested.

I know this is an old thread but I need some guidance.

I bought a MOPAR Turn signal Switch (part number on the box is 1-04293103) that was supposed to be for a 70 Challenger over a year ago. I'm just now doing the rebuild on the column and notice that the hazard button is larger as some of you mentioned before. The connector is correct. So, are you guys saying that I need to swap my old hazard button to this new switch or is there a new switch out of the box that has the correct narrower hazard button for a 70 Challenger?

Thanks, Joe

You'll need to swap out your original button onto the new assembly...Be careful, delicate and take your time during the process...Now, am I reading this correct??? The original still works ???If that's the case just clean it up and use it until something goes bad...{How often do you really use the 4-ways?}...Then you'll need to do the swap...Cutting the column components would be the last option on the list IMO...

Just found this thread doing a search, I'm surprised it came up as it's been three years... FWIW lots of good info & pictures, thanks to those who contributed..

Could this be archived?
