I just relocated the perches on my 8 1/4 rear in my 84 shortbed too lower it a little. Was wanderin of the life expectancy of this rear with a 440 and auto? The motor is stock as a rock from an 1972 motorhome.Should i line out something else? will an 8 3/4 work out for me better?

I think it'll be fine with a stock 440. What's the engine putting out, 225 hp and maybe 250-275 ft/lbs of torque?

If it's in good shape (i.e there's no excessive backlash or wear), it'd stick with it.

it will hold for a while

what did you do to the perch to get it lowerd?

did you move the shackle perch?

I did a flip flop on mine and run an A-body 8 3/4 on top of the springs with 12" rims and 29x15x15M/Ts in my 85

did you just flop the axle on top of the springs and slam it?

got a pic

of the relocation?

I used a front spring hanger and flip the shackle then mounted the A-body 8 3/4 axle on top of the springs to lower it

I would like to see some other ways that it has been done, for future projects

lets see the truck
