There's been alot of talk here recently about electronic fuel injection conversions on old mopar engines. Basically I am a Carburetor/ Mech fuel pump guy and would like to make the jump to an EFI, but am gettin' lost in the lingo. I understand the very basics of EFI and that's all. Will some of the EFI experts give us amateurs some help by providing basic theory (ie fuel pressures, mafs, computers controlling etc)
This site (or the internet for that matter) wasn't around when I started rebuilding and troubleshooting carb/ ignition problems , so I learned the hard way like alot of guys here- Through trial and error. I don't want to get my head around EFI that way.
Maybe recommended reading, recommended web sites??
Thanks
Glenn

I checked out EFI101.com. If looks like a technical school that are advertising courses.

Yes they have several courses offered at many locations, perhaps even one near you. If you look around you'll also find forums for different efi systems which offer lot's of info. You can ask questions regarding specific systems or general knowlege.

MOPAR Action has been running an article on converting a MP 360 crate motor to modern fuel injection; they called it “Project Savvy Savoy”. It was MOPAR specific, detailed and with a lot of background information.

I'm by no means an expert, but I've now re-done my own megasquirt 440 conversion twice - once with throttle body injection, then with multi-port. I picked up all my info from megasquirt boards and documents.

Good message board: www.msefi.com

Info on sensors and wiring (megasquirt specific, but 90% of the info can be applied to EFI in general)
http://www.megamanual.com/v22manual/mwire.htm

Same for injectors and fuel supply
http://www.megamanual.com/v22manual/minj.htm

Same for tuning, VE, A/F ratios, etc
http://www.megamanual.com/v22manual/mtune.htm

Ask away and I'll try to answer what I can... there's too much info to just start talking and hope I answer your questions...

all the sites posted here are good. if you really want to learn i'd hit the MSEFI site listed above. alot of good info there on useable stock hardware on up through building for all out power and boosted applications. most people on here are willing to help out too, but it helps if you have specific questions.

FI isn't too difficult. Like most things, there are about a million ways to do it. Ask around, see what works best for you...most in the know are willing to share the information they have.
