Does anyone have a picture of where the hood pin lanyard screws go into the fender bracing for a 1971 Challenger (with the later-style fenders)? Photos of an original car would be great.

Thanks!

There should be a small pilot hole near the very front of the bracing, on the side as close as possible to the hood latch.

I have seen very few fenders without.

I can take a pic later today when I go to the shop - I don't have anything at the house at the moment...

Never mind....click on this link - Dialup warning....

Photo is big enough that you can see the correct mounting points on both styles of '71 fenders

They are both original '71 fenders.

The passenger side is earlier production (really early production used '70 fenders without the cutouts)

The driver's side is a later production '71 fender and the bumper & mounting plate area is the same as '72-4

I have a pair of choice, original paint '71 fenders for my ragtop project and they are the same way with the different stampings. I will probably cut & weld to make them both look the same --- I did not notice it on the yellow car until I started installing the hood bumpers & adjusters - by then it was too late.....

Thanks YYZSKY - No pilot holes, but I can figure it out from your picture.

2 1/4" from the front, 2 9/16" from the left edge, 4 5/8 from the right edge as viewed.

Amazing how an unchallenged lie can become the absolute truth.
