My 286 heads flow 290@.700" on the intakes and have a very mild port. I don't have any exhaust flow numbers because my friends homemade "bench" just sucked, didn't blow.

I would contact Marlin Bogner. He had some Batten MW heads for sale a couple of years ago. Pretty wild looking stuff, but I don't think he ever told me what they flowed. His good SS engine was making about 700 HP with a modified crossram, no sheet metal intake. Or try Jeff at MCH, maybe he's done a MW head?

That intake and rocker setup look identical to mine, which I bought from Bogner a couple of years ago.I have the complete engine and headers that need to be owned by someone else, who needs one? Sorry to hijack your post.

Are the new heads any better than the old parts other than not being beat to death. Do you think a 330 cfm intake with a 70% exhaust port is doable?

I wanted to buy just the intake from Bogner, but he wanted to sell it with the heads. I didn't have the cash for both at the time.

I think I'd start with the 518-M heads if you don't already have the heads. I don't have any of the revised port heads, but it looked like they improved the transition from the seat to the exhaust port on the standard 518-M heads that I bought on a clearance sale a couple of years ago.

Here is a picture of the P5007494 chamber. It pretty much looks like the standard 518-M if I remember correctly.

P5007494 exhaust ports. I'll see if I can find my pictures of my 518-M and 286 heads to compare.

Here is a spare 286 head that had exhaust seats installed. The ID of the seat to head has a big mismatch, but it gives you some idea of the port contours.

This is a Stage II MP head from the clearance sale many years ago. Here is the exhaust port. This is not the revised port head, just the standard 518-M head.

Good pics....thanks...may be archive worthy, there isn't much there for max wedge right now and it'd be a nice addition.

I have a set of MW port Indy SR heads thatone intake port flows 336 cfm at .600 lift at 28 inches on a Super flow 600 bench and the same port on the other head flows 325 CFm at the same lift ansd so on. The exhaust ports flow 215 and 220 cfm at .600 lift at 28 inches on the same bench. I have two other sets of flow sheets from two different flow benches and they show less flow on the same ports at the same lift and inches of water on there flow benches. I guess a guy should remember that we don't race flow benches and not all flow benches (and operators) flow the same on the same cyl. head and ports. IHTHs. See the attachment, sorry it's not a better quality.

I had a set of the new "518" Max Wedge heads that had a little bowl work down. They were flowed by Nick at CompuFlo. The #'s were;
Intake- .500 - 239
.600 - 252
.700 - 261
Exhaust-
.500 - 192
.600 - 205
.700 - 210

That new 518 looks good on the exhaust side, wonder how much potential there is on the intake side?

I got an e-mail from Jeff at MCH. He said he flowed a set of MP heads and that they didn't flow as well as the Stage III heads. I remember Dvorak bitching about them several years ago because the ports were smaller as cast than the original heads. Good for SS guys that port them anyway, not good for a stocker guy like Dan. I bet Dan has some flow numbers. Maybe you can call him or visit his website. Dvorak Machine.

Here is some flow data I have:

Head & Valve Size/Valve Lift> .200 .300 .400 .500 .600 .700
Stage III 2.08 Int. Unported 124 190 238 257 259 263
Stage I 2.08 Int. Mild Port 134.5 190.5 227 257 280 289

The Stage III head flow data is from an old Mopar Performance News article that Ray Barton had some flow numbers on Hemi heads and included the Stage III for reference. The Stage I is an average between two sets of heads I have. The orange one reportedly was ported by Lee Shephard from R&M, the other head by an unknown porter, most likely from the Austin, Texas area.

The heads flowed nearly the same at higher lifts, but as much as 8 cfm at low-to-mid lift. I used the stock valves in each head when I had them flowed and that was before freshening up the seats. Sort of a baseline number for each head.
