I have a short deck wet sump r3 that I am putting togeather. I know you can oil this block from the front or rear. Was thinking about running a external filter and putting oil back in both. Was wondering if anyone has experience doing that. I've never seen a reason to oil from both ends. I know it's done, but what's it get you?
Just because you think it won't make it true. Horsepower is KING. To dispute this is stupid. C. Alston

When I built my R3 block several years ago thankfully I posted some pictures on Moparts. A member (sorry I don’t remember who) messaged me and told me the holes drilled in the valley for drainage needed to be bigger. I drilled them bigger and also bought an accumulator from him just Incase my pressure dropped. My RacePak showed my pressure was steady so I never installed it. Double check yours before it’s clean and going together

Putting oil in both ends of the galley on my LA - as opposed to one end only and making it run the gauntlet of lifter bores and feed passages before it gets to the other end - made a big difference in keeping the bearings happy. RPM is a big factor in how much attention the oil system needs.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Was wondering if anyone has experience doing that. I run a short deck r3 w8 deal, mine was dry sump. I converted mine to wet, no room for dry sump. I run mine front and back as I didn't see any reason to not. Not needed I'm sure, I did, works just fine.

You might go to www.moparchat.com then scroll down to & click on "circle track chat" then read thru Sanborns' oiling mods that are in a sticky at the top of that page. A long read to absorb it all but for sure worth your time.

I've never seen a reason to oil from both ends. I know it's done, but what's it get you? Oil to the number 1 main first instead of last... Mine is split and I oil both ends, dry sump, but doesn't matter. I can't see a reason not to do it. Worst case, it does little to nothing, best case, it extends bearing life.

I have mine torn down for mockup/new heads/new motor plate, but you can see how the raised port heads helped give me clearance. I had a short 90* on it before with standard port heads and this is a tall swivel. I'll probably trim away a little more of the intake to kick the fitting about 45*. End rail spacers are not in obviously!

I’ve just gone 3 years on mine blocking that front port off running alcohol so I will see shortly during rebuild how my bearings look.
