My '69 fastback 383 4 speed 'Cuda (A57 package) has Y09 on the fender tag. I looked it up and that means built to specs for export order. Is there any way to tell what country this was ordered for? If built for Canada, wouldn't it have the wording for that destination? Thanks for any help.

starting in '65 or '66 there was something similar to NAFTA & after that cars shipped between US & Canada were NOT considered EXPORT (& yes, CANADA spec. cars are Y07 on the fender tag or other documentation)

most Y09 cars that are currently in the States were originally shipped here, probably to a returning US serviceman

is it green/green, blue/blue, or tan/tan?

Y09 means the order originated from overseas, not that it was exported to another country.

As a common example, servicemen overseas could order a new car from their duty station for pick up at a dealership of their choice upon their return to the states.

Many Y09 cars never left the USA.

It's white with black interior.

Thanks Dan & Barry, that's the most logical explanation.

Yep, you will notice TONS of Y09s on fender tags in 69 and 70 as well as "I" in 71 - up if you start looking at everybody's tags at the big Mopar shows. We had a lot of military stationed all over the world, most notably, SE Asia .

It is also a reason we see 1970 cars with N95 & Y09.

US servicemen returning to the US via bases in California so they could pick up their new cars nearby.
