Jeep has the 5.7 Hemi with all wheel drive. This does not look like an easy job! Looks like the whole exhaust system has to come off! If so, does the rear wheel housing have to come off to remove the exhaust hangers located behind the rear wheels? It looks like the trans wont slide far enough back to clear the firewall without removing the front cross member which looks like a one piece subframe attached to the front suspension. I was told the Jeep repair manual does not mention this and I do not have a manual. So I don't know if the trans will slide out without removing or lowering the cross member. Maybe it might be easier to pull the motor and trans in one piece from the top ? I'm just guessing at this point!

Last summer I removed and installed the transmission and transfer case in one day in my sons 2003 ram 4x4. I have removed several motors and 727 transmissions over the years so I do have some experience. Any first hand advice from someone who has worked on this model Jeep or someone who works at a Jeep dealer would be appreciated.
Thanks

Have you looked for a how to video online? You would be surprised to see what you can find.
