I'm seeing the nitrile gloves at the store and wondering what size mil is good for paint work? I'm seeing 3, 5 and 7.

Thicker is better, I used nitrile and they last about 1 minute with any real solvent like lacquer thinner or Acetone...Tim

That's been my experience, too.

I went ahead and bought a box of 9 mil nitrile from Harbor Freight. They're holding up good to the lacquer thinner that I'm working with today.

Ansul brand solvex gloves hold up well, harbor freight thick black chemical stripper gloves work well too. The 5 mil only lasted a few minutes for me.

Good question BTW. I can't imagine 3 mill good for anything. I don't remember the mill thickness exactly. I have 3 thicknesses (5, 7, 9?) on the shelf, used based on the task at hand. I like the better feel the thinner gloves provide. When using the thinner gloves I have, its normally for a short term task, and being so cheap, I just toss them. If they break, I picked the wrong thickness. BTW, they do not have multi year shelf life.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.
