1970 duster with a 360. I had TTI’s on my 340 and wasn’t to happy with the coating from the early 90’s. Thinking maybe try Doug’s. What do y’all think as far as fit and finish also installing. Pics would be great please.

What finish did you have, Nickel? You could get TTI bare and have them coated. No experience with Dougs.

Coating is a cosmetic thing.
If you want headers that fit your car well and do not leak, then go TTI.
TTi's website does state if you run the headers on a fresh motor for break in they will get discolored.
Had them on a 73 Duster with 360 but motor had some mileson it and no discoloration.
Tip: Use Percy's reusable header gaskets they do WORK!!

I've heard people say that Dougs fit nice. However, Dougs have a big ID tag welded to one of the upper tubes. It looks ugly IMO.

I have Doug's headers in my car and they look and perform perfectly.
They have been on the car now for about 5 years with zero leaks or any fitment issues. The finish has slightly dulled right near the ports and it could probably be polished back to the original shine.

I would buy another set in a minute twocents

I read in the 90s when the TTIs came out (had a different name I cant recall! CPPA?) that they were "inspired" by the thick high quality Doug Thorley headers. Both brands are made from real steel-thick steel and not tin made for gutters. But it will cost you alot more to buy them raw- then get them ceramic coated inside and out at a later date. The shipping to and from a coater alone will floor you. I bought raw Thorley headers for my 360 Demon. Bought them that way JUST in case I have to ding them for clearance. But after pricing coating and seeing the high cost I will just paint them myself after verification they fit and engine has been sorted with a different set of cheap headers. Actually Ill probable try the Eastwood ceramic coating DIYer kit.

Doug headers fit well in my 69 Dart and had a nice finish. I purchased them through Summit.

There is also a cleaner that the staff at Doug's recommend. The cleaner worked well.

Don't know if it would be noticeable on the street, but TTIs are stepped 1 5/8"-1 3/4" while Dougs are a straight 1 5/8".

Fit and durability are second to none. As for coatings, I've had to touch mine up over the years. But I'm more interested in performance and fit rather than finish. Constant tuning and extended periods of non-use in the Florida humidity tends to affect coatings and cause corrosion on everything.

Dougs with a 20% discount through autozone, or get summit/jegs to match.

Performance diff, re: tube size, is minimal at best.

As I say, you can pay more for tti. I'll buy Dougs and a better converter, with the savings, and beat you every time for the same money spent.

I bought my raw Dougs thru Advance Auto with the 20% off. HOWEVER the savings was capped at $50. Still an OK deal but a seller on ebay had same price as Advanced Autos discounted price with free shipping.

Not a Duster but here's my headers after about one year and another at speed thumbs

I have never cleaned them since I installed them over 5 years ago.
Packaging is very nice and would stay put during shipping.I just picked mine up at Summit near my house.

I run the TTI on my 63 with a 440/493 and I love the TTI's. Great fit and a top notch header. On my sons Dart which is a bigblock 400 B eng we use the CPPA which look just like my TTI's. These CPPA headers have been on his Dart since 1997 and still looking good. They have some surface rust but not much as they were not coated. We bought them just as they come which is a nickle steel I believe. They fit his bigblock Dart fine and as said have held up fine so far for 22 years on the car. Are TTI better then Doug ?? I have no idea as I never ran Dougs but from what I see and hear they are about the same in quality and fit so it sounds like you cant go wrong with either. I would go for what I can get at the best price. Good luck , Ron

I have TTI's on my BB A body and Doug's on my SB A body. Both fit like they should. As far as coating, both have held up but haven't had either very long. Dougs are cheaper to begin with and with the 20% off coupon it's hard to pass up that deal.

The A-body TTI drivers side header has a slip tube that goes around the torsion bar.
The Doug's drivers side header is a one piece (no slip tube).
