Is it OK to use carb cleaner, brake cleaner, etc to clean the copper coat off of Cometics? Id think it would be OK, but want to make sure.

Also, I sprayed copper coat between the layers. Drill the rivets out and clean? Is that OK? Do I need to rerivet them or no?

Thanks

i use laquer thinner. no need to rivet them again. the dowels will hold them in place.

I was told to use laquer thinner to clean. Don't see any problem with taking layers apart as long as they are put back in same order with or without the rivet added

why not use the brake clean? thats all i've ever used & it cleans so well. the last set of cometics lasted 9 re-uses before they leaked, if i used laquer thinners do you think i would have gotten more?
