I see listings for NOS window regulators showing fitment '75 thru '78. Did they really change in '79? I need to get a parts book. I have a '79 W150 with manual windows.

I can't say for certain...but the only difference I ever came across was that some were riveted in and others were bolt in.

The parts book does show the regular as different part number for 79 and newer. But none of the other parts the door the glass or the inside door panel are different so i would guess that would mean the regulators are interchangeable anyway?

My parts book does indeed show a different regulator # for 1979-80-81 that being 4113 398-9.

The # for the 1978 is 4082 028-9.
Never had to replace one ...yet...so cannot comment on the difference. Hope this helps.

I thought the door guts changed in 78 and ran until 86. The vent window and all.

I am not in need YET. I just re-lubed everything but with no a/c I do crank them up and down frequently, so I would like to keep my eyes open for a spare set. Thank you for information all. Next time I have my panels off I'm going to try and get some decent pics to compare to earlier ones.

If I remember correctly the drivers and pass side window regulators use the exact same parts they are just assembled differently so pull them apart and reassemble them configured for the opposite side they were originally on and you will have fresh teeth for your window crank gear to mesh up with. Just be careful of the spring set up it can tear up fingers in a hurry.

I've heard that the rollers changed size at some point but not sure when. Might have been in the 80s

Something changed with rollers, or regulator or track length. Had a 75 I tried to put all the 79 glass in and when you rolled the side window up when it got to the top window would fall down. Can't remember how I fixed it, but was suprised at that.

Yes the rollers changed, only way to make them work is use regulator, lower glass channel and the roller guide that is spot welded to the door, been there, done that.

Oh, BTW, the vent window changed for 78, using the whole frame they fit all the way through72-93
