Getting closer to putting my grille on. I am still back and forth on the nosepiece. It's a love hate sort of thing. No real evidence if my car had one or not.
I have one NOS and when I slide it out of the box yesterday realized it doesn't have the nuts on it to retain to the grille.
Can someone post what the original nuts look like?

Thanks.

I don't have pics of the nuts but if I recall correctly they had the captive washers on them. The only thing I know for certain is that if the car was built before January 1, 1968 you COULD have the nosepiece, after January 1 they were no longer available. twocents

My GTS was born 28 December 67. There’s no place on the broadcast sheet showing a nosepiece. I have a parts catalogue that shows the nose piece with its own part number. There’s also a picture of the nose piece with the attaching hardware.

If you can scan or photo that, would be excellent.

My car is a Oct 1967 build, so could be it had it. Where on broadcast would it be listed?

I need to lay it on top of my restored grille. If it matches well, then I am leaning to install. If the argents are way off and does not look right, that may break the deal. I dont want to repaint the NOS part.

I dont have this anymore but as you can see there was a thin square metal
spacer that went against the grill bars where the top and bottom studs passed.
May not have been original but I disassembled it from an original car many years back and there was one top and bottom,

Hmm, that is interesting. Would like to see that plate as well if anyone can supply photos. Not on my part in box.

Nice to have the day off to look further into things. I dug out what I believe to be the original grille, given the matching dent. There is a photo I have from 1979 when we first bought this car (long story explained once before).

Do I understand correctly that the grille needs to have a hole drilled into it on the top tab? If I line up the nosepiece, appears so.

Good news is, the NOS part looks like a 99% match to the paint on my restored grille, which does not have the hold drilled.

Me again... doing more searching and now see there should be a lower hole as well. There is a corresponding set of threads on the piece.
Also, did they black out behind the ornament or is this someone's handy work? Why, no idea though.

Not liking the idea of drilling a lower hole as well.

The hole was punched from the factory not drilled. You can get a punch and die set to do it right, or you can drill it as you won't see it anyway. I thought the lower had a piece that sat behind the grill and was bolted through it. It has been a long time since I had one. shruggy
