Before I get to far in front of myself. is there anything I need to watch out for when I put these heads on my stock block, rods and pistons. I have read and been told this is a direct swap, rockers and push rods as well.

I just want to make sure. I have had my share of setbacks this last week with this motor and want to make a step forward not two backwards.

I have all new head bolts and factory head gaskets

Thank you

Is this for a stock aplication or swap? Intake manifold is different. Same bolt pattern but ports wont line up.

Aren't the later combustion chambers smaller making 11+:1 with the early pistons?

Sorry fellas this is for a swap. I will be using my Cascar intake with my Fast efi system and the Hemi 6 ignition box. I know I will have to watch the tune and timing but more worried about oil passages and water jackets. I am 99% sure its a direct swap. and yes I have read that the combustion is now going to be 11 to 1. I am ok with that and plan to run premium gas anyways.

Cam base circle is different on the earlier and eagle 5.7s. You'll need different length pushrods. I'm sure you can find the right length searching on google.

so on the 09 heads the rocker pedestals are higher? I am keeping the original cam and lifters. so now I need push rods as well, what pushrods? any part number?. boy the price just keeps going up.

quick search from 03 to 08 all pushrods are the same.
Intake
7.850
Exhaust
6.600
09 and newer only changes with VVT from what I see on a quick read of a search
A2Speed is saying correct length to remove any and all lifter clatter is 6.80 int and 8.1 exhaust.
I will measure mine and see what I have. I just might buy a set of pushrods. any and all comments are welcome.

Thank you
Kiddart

Not only that, but the cams are different like a 5.7 to 6.1 cam swap where you need different pushrods and reason being the cam base circle.

You will also need new valve covers from an 09' or later for valvetrain clearance.
Stock Eagle pushrods are 6.800 and 8.140.You need to you measure and order custom length.

You can use stock eagle pushrods.

03-08 5.7 cam base circle .807(1.614) and 09' VVT Cam Base Circle .750(1.500)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but that would make the pushrods .057 too long. I'd measure with a pushrod length checker. I was thinking of going opposite, eagle block with early heads for lower compression and was looking into all of this a few days ago.

The one we did was fine. I didn't know about the base circle difference but it seems there is enough play in the lifter to accommodate it...

The 04 pushrods won't work... the eagle ones may but a little long. I'd measure for the correct length, but like mentioned others have used the eagle pushrods.

Are you using a stock 5.7 cam? If aftermarket, I think they are all based on the 6.1 cam base circle which is different than both 5.7 styles.

Compression will go up by almost 2 points.
They do bolt on.
I THINK the rocker stands I believe are taller to accommodate the longer valve.
Very good performance upgrade!

Your compression ratio with stock gaskets will be over 12:1, it only gets down to 11:1 if you are using .075 thick headgaskets. The head chamber is approx 65 cc if you want to run a compression calculator. Only ones I’ve found are cometic gaskets and they are $240-$275 for the set. Stu at Inertia Motorsports sells custom length forged pushrods just for these swaps for $165, I just got them in a few days ago. The rods are 8.05 and 6.80 long, that’s using a custom inertia cam which should be using a 6.1 cam base circle. Like stated earlier, you need the eagle09+ valvecovers and cool packs, if you are starting out with the older style single coil pack they won’t work. It’s been proven to be a great mod, but it gets expensive once you start adding up all the extra parts.

If you go to a thicker head gasket, you'll need to adjust the pushrod length along with that.

12 to 1 seems to be of no real concern with pump premium, these new hemis have a very high tolerance for compression with dual spark plugs requiring less ign lead, plastic intakes keeping the air very cool, very efficent chambers, very good oil control, EFI... lots of people are running this combo with stock head gaskets and premium fuel with no issues.

On a side note, when I CCd everything a while back I was barely able to come up with 11.5 with this combo once I calculated in the pistons below deck and all.
