I am weighing my options on my ultra-budget 440 build. I will be running around a .500 lift hydraulic cam. Typical street hot rod thing.

Is there a drop in spring that will work with stock retainers and seals etc.?

Most aftermarket springs seem to be around 1.5 OD, and my stock retainers are closer to 1.3...

I have researched some and I know I can buy a kit. Just trying to save some cash is all.

If there is not a spring that will drop in, is there a combo of spring and retainer that would work without machining?

I do have proper tools here for measuring installed height and spring tension.

Thank you for your help.

440 magnum springs will work with your retainers. I get mine on ebay from moparmtman.
item number 173648598089. Don't go with any higher than that .500 without having your guides cut down or you'll be bending pushrods.

I haven’t been home to check a few things but it looks like the Eddy Sure seat springs might work. Just doing some thinking.

Be sure to check the retainer to seal clearance.
