My DD Honda needs a new battery. Cheapest I’ve found is through my AAA roadside for $110. It says they have a 6 year warranty with a 3 year free replacement.

Anyone here run a AAA battery in their vehicles? Any issues?

TIA!

I had AAA replace a battery and it lasted several years. Don't remember exactly, but it was acceptable.

So I thought I had battery issue on my Journey . . . called in and was told they would send out the service truck . . . . guy gets here, looks at my Journey, and shakes his head - then tells me : "Because of the location of the battery, under the left front splash shield - remove front tire, that they DO NOT DO these !!!" . . . . "WHAT???" . . . if that is the case, then WHY did the person on the phone, that sent the guy out, NOT KNOW THAT ?!?!?! . . . . turns out the battery was ok, not sure why it was drawn down, but put on charger and then checked with load tester - all good !!! . . .

Have had friends use this service over the years, and has been good for them. Heck, someone COMES to you, with a battery, replaces your dead one, AND takes old one away . . . CHEAPER than what you can buy a battery for ?!?!? . . . I say go for it !!!

Yeah I was reading that they may charge a labor fee if they have to do that kind of work.

Anyway, I ended up paying $130 after tip, which is still way under what the brick and mortar store....

Had a customers AAA battery go dead while the car was here and the engine was out. (We were doing some electrical testing)
The AAA guy comes out and the battery is sitting in front of the car in the shop. I explained to him we charged it, load tested it and it was toast.
He's looking around and says I can't replace the battery unless its in the car, HUH ??? He repeats himself,
OK, I pick the battery up, put it in the car and look at him glaringly.

He does a load test, says the battery is bad ( REALLY ??) and replaces it. 45 minutes of BS for what could have been done in 5

My experience with AAA beer

How much at the brick and mortar? Do you mean buying the battery and installing yourself or going to a shop and having it done.Just curious. I bought a big batt for the wife's Fusion at the local Farm and Fleet for $110....15 min to install.I have AAA but didn't even think to call them when hers crapped in the garage.

Brick and mortar as in if I were to buy it and install it myself. Only options it shows is $155 or $185....

Yup, just buying a battery from brick & mortar store is MORE than having AAA come and R&R and take away the old battery !!

Dang! Just checked a 51r there and it’s $109... I’m not even sure we have a farm and fleet here in California.....

My tenant works at a valvoline and told me AFTER I bought my battery that she could have gotten me an interstate for 50% off....

Just as well... I’m doing a fair bit of travel for work anymore, so a AAA battery that should be covered continent wide, seems better than trying to find an interstate dealer when you’re 3,000 miles from home.

Such is life I guess....

The take away I got is that the Honda uses the same battery as a lawn mower. laugh2

I suppose it does! Haha

Would have been better if I could have taken the battery from my Suzuki ls650 and use it. Dang thing is only a few inches by a few inches and was over $100 itself!!

And I'm betting the one for 19.95 lasted longer too. Lots of JUNK batteries out there now.

right on the money ! back in the day, i've had battery's last 10-12yrs, including the cheapo's.
i always buy the biggest ca i can find, but it seems lately, all you can get in "big" ca is around 600. that is, unless you go to a specialty battery store.
and today's warrentees are a joke as well.

There are only a few lead-acid battery suppliers...
Mainly due to the environmental issues especially with lead...
The AAA batteries are sourced from Interstate...
Tried to find out where their factories are, but found out most come from Mexico that has looser environmental standards...

Just my $0.02... wink
