I am looking for ideas on how to carry an appropriate front tow hook with me, in case I need it. I'd like it to be discrete/removable, if possible, for aesthetic reasons.

Have your racers found something that works well with a stock e-body?

I'm sure something can be fabricated. I make tie down hooks that bolt on at the bumper brackets so you could do something along those lines. Or weld a tab on the K frame that you can bolt a tow hook to.

if this is a "just in case" deal, why not look into one of those nylon tow straps with the loops on both ends ? they come in various lengths and widths.
just sneak it through the holes in the K, through the looped end, done. you would have to get down to install the hook anyway. when done, roll the strap up & stash in the trunk under the spare tire.
off road places have tons of these things.
just a suggestion.
