This is the one that ALMOST got away. 21 Years ago my dad was looking to replace his wrecked 67 barracuda, his brother gave him a lead on a 67 fastback barracuda about to be crushed...the asking price? $600.00, Yeah that was alot for him but he left a $100.00 deposit to hold the car and a week later when he picked it up, he got more then he ever bargained for. The car had 1 U-bolt on each side holding the rearend which turned out to be a fresh DANA 60 with 5.13posi. When he got it to his brothers house it had a 340 set in place and the motor mounts were nowhere near close to lining up, So his brother got his code book and immediatly tried to buy it from him, It turned out to be a REAL 67 formula S 383 car. He still has it and no progress has been made for about 20 years since my sister, brother, and then me came along. The 340 was sold for the 600 he paid for the car, he put the spring relocator in the car since the perches were set up for it, his brother had a 383 that they threw in the car and since then, he has very very slowly collected parts. The car was run once, 19 years ago. Other then that it hides in the garage while passers by only wonder what it is. The car was moved away form the wall today which rarely happens so i was able to move around it and here are some pics, Oh it was only moved to put up drywall...maybe someday progress will restart, until then one of the rarest 67 barracuda's i know of will hide. I have never seen another real 67 383 car....have you?

It still has the vin in the door and fender tag which i attempted to decode today but it is much more difficult then the one for my dart. Here is what i got.....

Neat car! Rare indeed. Maybe you should start working on the car yourself, and that may give your pops the motivation he needs. Some shiny new parts would go a long way!

Well i had 1500 saved up and i was going to put it into his car which would have got it on the road or really close, he refused to let it happen and started looking for cars for me, then i got my dart. Funny thing is they share 2 options, and they both came out of a junkyard...i wish mine had a 383 in it. As soon as my car is on the road ill put money towards his, i thought when he moved it yesterday it was gonna happen but its back against the wall in the corner again.

Great car! Keep working on him.

I have seen quite a few of them over the years, but haven't been able to get my hands on one myself. Came pretty close on a green one back in the 70s.

About 17 years ago, I got within a few hundred
bucks of buying a very humble 69 M Code, 4 speed coupe. It even had the manifolds, but someone had sanded it down, totally stripped it of paint, then let it set outside for a long time.

Yeah ive always wanted to get one like his but a 4spd, about 5 years ago he alomst bought a 68 383 4spd car that needed some quarter panel work to be perfect but he passed on it and i told him to put the money into this one, he didnt do that either, and he recently got laid off so its not going anytime soon

Well the past few days we made some progress on it, primed the oil pump, running new steel fuel line, hooking up gauges and today were gonna pull the plugs a squirt some oil down the cylinders. Just got an altenator yesterday and the car should be fired up in the next few days for the first time in 20 years. So far its only been me and my dad working on it, my brother checks in occasionally and never fails to ask why the carb isnt on yet, so that is going to go on last

Doesnt look like much but its on jackstands and its slowly getting pieced together.

And my moms 67 notch on the right

*** Well i just had the garage open when some guy stopped to try and be funny..."hey are you tryin to make a hang 10 cuda or something" well how clever of him since there is a surfboard on the roof....ill try to get a vid of the first fire up but not sure if ill be able to hold the camera and smile at the same time. wont be able to work on it today since my dad is workin a double shift so he can take tomorrow off and work on it all day...should get alot done
