I have a really stupid question.

do you really need to secure down the coil packs to the valve cover? I am switching from the 04-05 style to the 06 and up. If I have to I am going to make different hold downs using the 04 hole pattern. is this really needed? they seat or click on the plugs just like any other plug wire.

I didn't have hold downs on my traditional small block plug wires.

I am sure I am missing something so please smack me around and get me on the path of Gen 3 again.

thanks again for the help

I ordered/bought a bunch of stuff Wednesday and am getting closer to firing this thing up

Thank you

I would think the weight of the coil would fatigue the unit/connection from vibration over time. That is vs a plug wire only.

While I don't think they would go anywhere I do think the vibration over time could cause problems.

The coil packs do not click on like a spark plug. They need to be retained.

I am going to make so retainers. I can see spending a bunch of money on fancy valve covers. I will figure something out.

thanks for all the guidance

Is it easier to just buy a set of the later valve covers?

they are expensive, at least the ones I have found. I am trying to keep this to a bare minimum swap. I guess I need to prove to myself that a junk yard hemi can run and run well. Seeing isn't always believing. So far I am in for about 3K on the swap. Headers and Computer have been the biggest cost.

Thank you

Factory plastic covers are generally $60-$80 a pair or $80-100 for the later eagle/apache ones

The eagle 09+ Hemi valve covers also work on pre-eagle heads. Not the other way around though. I’m using 09+ covers for my coil pack swap. Getting them cheap is kinda a game of luck
