Hi Mike, if edelbrock-based stuff is of any interest I have -one- single p5153850 head. It's like edelbrock rpm but the pushrod pinch is totally gone, and the port is straight. For you it will be dirt cheap. You would have to come up with a matching one someplace. I'll text or email you pics, if interested give me a shout. Rich

I'm not sure what Mr P would go backwards in cylinder head with ANY of the heads mentioned even if he has some lowly CI W-2 stuff laying around.
No way would I build an engine with OE architecture when I have the option of something else.
But that's just me.
Unless of course I wanted to keep the power down for whatever reason. They I'd look at other stuff.
Just because you think it won't make it true. Horsepower is KING. To dispute this is stupid. C. Alston

Wha600t rpm range? Very good low rpm manners important? I hope to learn a bit from this discusion. Would a ported Magnum style head do the trick? Out of breath by 6500 maybe, but great torque/low rpm? I would guess 550 hp potential by 6000 rpm with a somewhat streetable cam.

This is my street rod.. it goes to the track a few times but mainly just street driven.. most of the parts I had in the shop so I built a spare engine so I could get stuff out of the way.. I will put it in maybe next spring when I get back home.. If I want I might put back in the race car but set it up for street driving.. right now I have W-5s on it

OK, it’s a 416 w/W5 heads on it now. I have to ask about the cam duration and gears. I don’t see a problem running the W5 on the street. Is there something about the head that gives you the willies not to run it? If your in the frame of mind that you have an overkill set of heads on a mild engine, I get that, but, I would say not to sweat it. The excellent head will help carry the smaller cam longer and be a really efficient and effective package. Without knowing about the rear gear and stall rate, just purely for example, a small lowly hyd. cam like 230*/236*/240* intake duration will work for the street like we all know how it does and the heads will help carry the rpm range further up the rpm scale. The duration is super streetable with great top end with the heads you have on there now. I really don’t know what to tell ya there buddy. Time for a little soul searching.

Mike, if your not in a hurry then you may want to check out the TF heads when they become available, if they did their homework on the smallblock heads like they did on the Bigblock heads then they will be a nice street/strip deal.
Light travels faster than the speed of sound,,,this is why some people seem bright untill you hear them speak.
