8mm valves. cheapie lash caps from eBay & they have a bit of play. They might be the wrong ones (ain't got that far yet, just set one on a valve an hour ago) but I wanted to ask before I contact the seller. thank you for your time.

All the lash caps I've used are snug to tight on the valve tips, I haven't used any on a valve stem that wasn't standard 3/8,11/32 or 5/16 size though shruggy

Lash caps are a kinda matched item. I tried using different brands from the valve locks, we saw a failure after noticing they werent the nicest fit. Once we changed to the same brand parts, we could see the better fit. The last thing you want is a piece of broken lash cap bouncing off your rods at 7k. You get a zillion nicks on the beams, the next failure about to happen.

I don’t know what you used for valves, but the spec for magnum valve stems is .3115”..... which is much closer to 5/16”(.3125”)than 8mm(.3150”).

If you have “correct” magnum replacement valves, I’d say you just have the wrong lash caps to fit them.

Dwayne You are on to something here. I will see if I can dig up the receipt on the valves & I'm thinking I got .311 on a stem yesterday which is for sure closer to 5/16 than 8MM is! (my gut was telling me that sumpin obvious ain't right here (that I was missing!). EDIT OMG! I think I had a major brain fart here, I was thinking (not sure how it happened) that I had 8MM valves but it turns out I have 5/16's & I do have 8MM thick Lunati retainers/locks. (do they need to go also?).

I for sure ain't feeling lucky (or froggy) & my doctor has been suggesting I get tested for quite a few months now. I will call Lunati tomorrow & see if just the locks need to be changed. Good timing cuz I was just ready to finally assemble the heads. Thanks guys!
