I would like to put a 66RFE Transmission behind my Mopar B/B 440 RB in a similar fashion to the A518 shown in the post "Big block a518 overdrive conversion (lots of pics)" posted on this forum some time ago.

See: https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/35994/1.html

I have been in touch with JW and they are not sure if it is possible using their Ultra-Bell #92457 "Big Block Chrysler to TF727 or A518".

My question is ….is the bolt pattern/size of the A518 pump the same as the 66RFE pump?

Can I cut off the 66RFE's bellhousing and use JW part#92457 as if it was an A518?

The plan is to then use a PCS 2800 to control it.

There is no likeness between the 518 and RFE pumps.

Only way I can see you using the RFE family would be to use an adapter or cut the bell off and weld a 727 bell on.

You need a stand alone controller to run any RFE trans - they are completely electronically controlled.

Thanks Transman according to transmissiontuner.com the PCS TCM-2800 with a "helper Module" of his own design can be used to control the 66RFE http://www.transmissiontuner.com/68RFE-Swap.html

Thanks Transman

Do the pump bolts share a common PCD?

Would you happen to have a photo of the two pumps to help me appreciate the differences?

Transman do you know if the A518 & the 66RFE share the same bellhousing bolt pattern?

It’s my understanding that 318/340/360/5.7/6.1/6.4/6.7 share the same bellhousing bolt pattern.

Been over two years since I left Chrysler and if memory serves me that was a fact back then.

Now, the 518 has a cast iron pump held in the bell.
All RFE has a “hub cap” that covers the internal pump and is held in place with a snap ring.

Look inside a RFE bell and all you will see is that hub cap.
The pump is an aluminum body bolted to the case behind that cover.

You might be able to use a JVX adapter to bolt the trans to the engine. Getting the converter connected to the crank might take some creative machine work but should be doable I would think.
