I've changed cars but are reusing my same trans & engine combo. I'm even using the same gear ratio, but altho the new car is faster, my 60's are slower. The old car was a backhalved Dart with a ladder bar, the new car is a tube chassis with 4 link & its 400lb lighter. The old car had a 9", the new a Dana 60. I used to run 1.28 60's quite regularly but the new car so far has only pulled 1.32, im thinking the rear springs are too stiff @ 130lbs, any chassis tuners got some ideas i can try?

Is it spinning or just slower? Plenty of items to look at. Whats it weigh? My car is 3345, sometimes as much as 3465 with ballast. 1510 normally in the rear. It uses 120lb springs. I'd bet you could use 95 or 110.

How far out and up is the IC? If it's low enough and far enough forward, you may just need to hit the tire harder.

You may not want to hear this but a A body compared to a E body with the EXACT same parts at the same TOTAL weight may be a lot harder to hook shruggy Been there, did that realcrazy
What where the front and rear weights on the old Dart and what are the weights on the current Cuda?
Good luck, keep after it, YOU can make it better thumbs wrench grin

How much up shock travel do you have when the car is at rest on the suspension? I was told by Avco years ago to set the ride height up so it is resting at 1/3 from being bottomed out, 2/3 up travel scope
Can you post a video of the car leaving the starting line?
That will help us help you up

What is the actual weight? At a glance Id say yes your rear springs are too stiff and your converter may be a tad tight with the reduced weight.

the rears are just a little over half on the wheels. I would post a pic but i'm in Facebook Jail, Solitary confinement, can't even get on to download any vids of the car. I'm doing my best seeking bail as we speak.

2750lb with my fat ass in the chair, the converter is a 6k stall, i rev it to 8k. But valid point as the converter was just in for a service.

Kinda feel its not all converter related. 400lbs lighter & more suspension adjustability on a stiffer chassis, im thinking i should be averaging 1.25 60's. I'm just NA with a respectable 800 HP+/- & Im wanting to run 8's. We've run a few 9.0s, a gain on my 60s should see the 8s im looking for. At 10 sec streetcar n 8 sec racecar, living the dream???lol

You are probably right on it not all being converter. But i would bet my last Snickers bar the converter is part of it.

I'm ASSuming you are using a trans brake. If so, you can move the launch RPM up and down to see if the tire wants more hit or less hit.

I'm in the converter/IC/shock setting/launch RPM boat.

I suspect there is something in all those areas. It's almost like you aren't hitting the tire hard enough. Most guys move the IC up and back to increase the hit, but I'd rather do it with converter or shock settings.

For me, chassis tuning was always much easier if I had the IC out longer and lower than most. I could hit the tire a bunch harder with the engine/clutch that way.

you could be onto something as most of my settings are from the heavier ladder bar car i used to have. i have the brake launch set at 4400rpm, that gave the ladder bar car the best hit for the 60's. the converter is 6k stall so maybe i'll try stepping up to 5k on the hit & see if that works. Still tryn to get out of FB jail so i can download a vid of the launch for yous.
