Got a nav radio in an 05 and its taking a dump. I've got a nice 07 CD/cassette that I want to put in but I've heard - something like you have to clear the radio with a Mopar dealer or it won't work...???? Something like to protect oem radios from theft and black market. Is this an old wives take ?

Where did you get the radio ? I have 2 spares - one for my 05 and one for an older motor home

I bought mine off ebay. I went from single disc CD to a multi disc radio.

I thought 2005 you're still safe unless there was some sort of theft lock that someone enabled.

I assume he is talking about a code that some manufacturers use. I don`t think Chrysler ever used codes. At least not on the 06 Ram I had that i remember.

Many OE auto brands included this feature..
Basically the radio internally has a pre-coded security # encrypted in its CPU, and in order for it to power up this code must be entered. Though harder to find, each OE had an override master code supplied to their dealers...

Just my $0.02... wink
