Hi guys,
It's been a few months. To catch up- here's the previous topic info:

Well, plans have changed (hopefully for the better). We've decided to switch bodies for the 528 Hemi- so now we are using my '70 Cuda.

The Viper brake kit, coil-over susp., sway bars- all going on it as well. The rear set-up will be simply using a 68 B-body axle housing and offset shackles to gain the tire clearance for the 285's out back.

She'll get the 11.75 rotors, sway bars, etc. Same body panel, bumpers swap to fiberglass parts for weight reduction and some light wheels. Should be a fun build once again!!

I'm finally getting the '70 Cuda stripped for paint. I bit the bullet and ordered the rear 4-link kit from Gerst Suspensions. The front will also be coil-overs from Hemi Denny.

We are dyno testing the 528 Hemi after Labor day- she should make around 650 HP. The new trans will be from Jamie Passon- on of his O/D 4-speeds with 18 spline internals on a McLoed RST clutch.

I'm trying to find an aluminum wheel in 17" that looks like a plain steelie- so I can run the dogdish caps. Circle racing wants $1000 a piece to fit the Mopar cap to their #108 wheel (so NO thanks). Centerline is out of business. US Wheel makes a new 17" Mopar steelie- but MAN, I think those would be heavy!! (I'm waiting for the call back on the actual weight.) Any suggestions??

revisiting my post from a year ago. Still working on the Pro-tour '70 Cuda. She's just about out of "Paint Prison". We sold the gen2 hemi and now have a 500HP cammed Gen3 6.1L Hemi in it's place along with a TKO 600 5-speed.

I've since upgraded to a full tubular K-frame from Hemi Denny (he was great in returning the coilover T-bar eliminator kit).

I am in the process of trying to select some disc brakes now since the HDK kit uses a Mustang II spindle. I had to sell the Viper kit and spindles.
So, I'm looking for inputs on how "big" I have to go. Intended use will be primarily street use with a couple Road America track days. Thinking 12.19 or 12.88 front Wilwoods. I am using the 17x8/ 17x9 Rally aluminum wheels & 245/ 285 Nitto G3 555's.

I have not decided on the rear brakes yet either. Disc's? If so, what diameter? The 8-3/4 has Dr.Diff axles with the greeen bearings, so I am limited to 11.7 to 12" rotors.

I'd go with discs. Wilwood or Dr Diff should be fine for front or rear.

hey muu muu, it's been a while! I still have the A-body spindles I got from you for the Viper brake kit (going on a friend's Challenger now).

I think I will pull the trigger on the Wilwood 12.19 rears and 12.88 front discs. That should be enough for stopping the #3200 E-body. I don't anticipate going above 130 mph, but ya never know! boogie

I have the Dr Diff 13" front and 11.75" rear and I had no problems slowing down from 130 mph. up

Well- I did some measuring on the 17" Rallys; looks like the largest front rotor I can use is the 12.19" with the 6-piston caliper.

So the big question is, what size rear rotor to use? Wilwood offers an 11" and 12.19" in the 2.36 offset I need with the green bearing axle I have from Dr. Diff Again, this is a 3200# somewhat nose heavy E-body.

The front rotors come slotted and drilled; do I necessarily need the same in the rear, or can I go with solid rotors?

From a real world performance perspective a 12" rotor is overkill on the rear in my opinion. Front brakes do the majority of the work. Good pad selection would make a bigger difference.

Green bearings and high speed turns do not go well together.
Those bearings and pro-tour do not belong in the same sentence.
Do you have any idea of the load on the bearing when turning at high speed? Good luck with the wrong choice

Brakes require ducted air when being used to stop from high speeds.
