Looks good. Did you have a local shop narrow it and move the perches in?

Yeah, Warren Gear and Axle in Warren, Michigan. Considering I dropped everything off right before between Christmas and New Years they turned it around pretty quickly.

It'll probably be a month or so before I make anymore headway on it. My garage isn't heated and it's supposed to get colder. Gives me time to save I guess.

Just need to make some brake lines and then get it in the car. You'll have to fabricate something for the e-brake also. Will you have any clearance issues with the exhaust or the gas tank?

Those Explorer discs look nice. What modifications if any are needed to run those? How does an emergency brake work (internal drum hat)?

@AndyF: I don't think I'll have any issues with the exhaust since the tubes are the same diameter as the 8.75", but I have my fuel pump and filter mounted to an aluminum plate in front of tank. It fit just fine with the 8.75". Won't find out if that is going to be an issue until I go to install it in the car. I have a custom tank on the list of things to do this season. Might have to happen sooner than later.

@Larry: Need to use Ford housing ends on the axle to get them to bolt on. Since it needed new ends anyhow it wasn't any additional cost. Yeah, e-brake is under the rotor hub. I don't know what is going to be involved with the e-brake cables yet as it isn't in the car. There are a few guys here that have used this exact kit in their cars though.

There are several places that make E brake cables for those Ford brakes. Those are popular brakes with street rod guys so you can find the cables without any issue. Doctor Diff can get you cables too.

That's good to know. After the axle is installed I need to call Cass back for a master cylinder and 11.75" rotors for the front (already have the caliper adapters). Thanks again for all the help.

The only better Ford brake setup is off the newer crown vic's that will work on a 60, they have vented rotors that are almost 7/8" thick...but the bearings and ends are slightly smaller than the explorer and are only available from the salvage yards so not as common. Tim
